Hi, Just bought a 92' 1200FJ and love it to bits, the idle speed is too high and I am trying to locate the adjuster, is it under the tank? or can I get at it through the side casing?
I have a manual on order, until then I have to guess.
Cheers
you can get to it by removing the seat and the left hand side cover.
the idle adjustment knob is underneath and in between the middle two carbs.
its kind of a tight fit but can be accessed.
make sure the bike is up to normal operating temp before adjusting.
Kookaloo!

What's "too high"? It should be idling right around 1000-1100 rpm.
The idle adjuster is a toothed-like wheel which points down between the two middle carbs.
If your hand is too big or its hot, use a long flat bladed screwdriver to reach it.

Roy you have a 92 and you should be able to adjust the idle by sticking your hand under the carb assembly from the right hand side of the bike unless you have really large hands. In the middle of the carb assembly there is a small hand wheel that you should be able to get to and turn your idle down.

Cheers, that done the trick.
Much appreciated.
