Title: Need 89-90 fairing panels 1 and 2
Post by: chrism40 on November 04, 2016, 04:02:27 PM
I need the panel 1 and panel 2, part numbers Panel 1 3CV-2835U-00-00Panel 2 3CV-2835V-00-00. They are the panels that extend up to support the windshield. Please rummage through your parts bins and see what you might have. Thanks for any help.

Chris

Chris, those parts are gonna be hard to find, like hens teeth and rocking horse shit. Try searching bike wrecking services. This part is a perfect candidate for 3D printing. If the shape were not so complex I would model it and get some spares for myself.

Anyone have access to a 3D laser scanner or PCMM at work?

One side is easy to find but the other is not. I don't remember which is the hard one to find. I got 2 of the one side. And couldn't find the other. Fred had a spare of the hard to find side. And was nice enough to sell me one. I have been looking on occasion for a spare of the hard to find one (always have to check witch one It is before I buy) but no luck yet. They do definitely make a difference.
I have a double bubble windscreen. And it is not As stable as a stock one.
These pics were taken before I got them.

Dan and Mark are right, these parts are difficult to find. For everyone's information. The LEFT panel is the really difficult one to find. I have 2 FJ's that require the same parts and I keep a spare set on hand.

I usually buy them off of eBay when they show up and notify Forum members that need them that I can ship them out. I will check my parts locker later this afternoon to see what I have.

I have a friend that has a 3D printer and scanner at work. I think that these are going to be added to the list of parts we will try to print. The fairing protectors for the 86 and 87 FJs are also on the list. I will let the forum know if the results are satisfactory.

Chris, I can send you a 3D file for the 86/87 protectors, I already had some printed in ABS. A little sanding and some paint and they should fool anyone.

Send me the file and I will try it out and let know about the results. It will be a good test.

Yah Randy 86 mirrors on my 89. Work great can actually see. And I'm a little wider up top than a lot of people. Plus I think they look better/ right.

Yep, they look like they belong there. Randy T and I talked about his 86 mirror on his 90 at the WCR.

I've always wondered if they would work on the latter years. If the angle is the same. Also thought about having a base made with the same angle for the 86.

This 89 fairing, I need the trim pieces for, is going on an 86 and I was considering using the 86 mirrors. The rear vision on my 89 sucks. People must have been skinnier back then. Thanks for posting the photo.
