Title: A bug's life...
Post by: mr blackstock on October 29, 2016, 08:00:08 AM
Thanks to the huge amounts of rain over the past few months all the dried up old lake beds are now teaming with life, bugs, frogs, and snakes, in that order too.  After riding past one lake I got covered in bugs.  The sticky sort of bug too.

Gareth, I recently attempted to wash off some bugs I picked up near your place. I figured if I could extract their DNA I would have the mother of all plastic glues.

G'day,

I reckon it must have been you I saw riding through Ararat one bloody rainy day.  You were riding with another on a cruiser?  And yes, those bugs are hard to rid of, I have to remove the fairing to try and get them all out.  They clog up a lot of stuff!

I rode through a swarm bees once, the 50 or so casualties must have been filled with honey. What a gooey mess.  :bad:

I am sure all of us have ridden through an area that was extremely bug infested. This was after riding at dusk in Colorado a few years ago.

Yea, that happened to me.

I was riding over Monitor Pass, a beautiful day, no traffic, a perfect afternoon in the Sierras.
So there I was, grooving on the FJ with my face shield open, when a single bee comes in, bounces off my sunglasses and gets wedged between my helmet and ear. The critter proceeded to sting me on my ear.
Ouch!
I pull over, take my helmet off and pull the stinger out of my now swelling ear.....
Oh well, what are you gonna do? It's still a bitchen day, just one of life's little annoyances.

I proceed on my journey, now with my face shield closed and get about 3 miles down the road when I come around a corner and ride right thru a huge swarm of bees. As Mark said, it makes quite a mess.

I was still happy 'thou.....I could have ridden thru that swarm with my face shield open.

Back when I had my first Fj in 86. I was riding home from a workout. On highway 41. Wearing shorts. Had one go up my shorts. And gave me a pleasure nub on my pennis. I'm not sure what people thought. When I pulled off the side of the road. And jumped off the bike and started walking my self In the groin.
