I'll get the ball rolling with this map capture of where I dumped. I located it by satellite map. It was on Orser Rd., which from an overhead view, I was running from the left to the right of the image. It should not have been that big of a deal. However, look at the inset photo in the middle of the photo, a few yards up the road from where I finished up: 4 wheel vehicle tracks right up to the bushes. LOL. Like the resident who helped me said, he should buy himself a tow truck.

Ahhhhh. ... THAT corner! I was lucky enough to be following dan ... in daylight, ...when i first experienced that road. The ending intersection is just as dangerous: a hidden steep downhill stop with lots of gravel.
Its good to see that the damage is the minimum to you! ...and the bike. Lucky!
On Saturday we took in roads on pretty much the same route as last year: Desert Lake road, Westport Road, #36, #511, #508 & Centennial Lake Road, and... half of Buckshot Lake Road. Next year we will do the other half..
The sun was shining and the weather was just perfect.
A couple pics on Friday as people were arriving:

Sorry I missed it. My FJ would have looked right at home :good2:
Had a great time!!, good weather, good food, great camp fires, and amazing roads. Thanks for letting me join in even though I don't have the FJ any longer. The little "FJ6" was able to keep up until my body wore out.
Thanks again for hosting, fantastic way to close out the summer, since its cold and raining now, hope to get in a few more local rides before it s**ws.

Some video on Friday, September 23, 2016. I'm following paullfj03 on Desert Lake Rd the Bedord Rd. I am using two views from my left foot and nose cam. I had a helmet cam but it wasn't oriented quite right. Plus trying to edit three simultaneous timelines into one using Windows Moviemeaker was driving me nuts. I found doing two barely manageable, as I had to write down the time of each splice and try to find the (near enough) frame in the second video to try and create a seamless process. More or less I think it worked.
These roads were featured in last years videos, but included in a whole day video. This one contains just these two roads. Nearly the whole segement is in real time - I did edit out a bit here and there to keep it under 20 min. The best thing was we never had a car in front of us!
Over the next week or so I will be posting one or two more vdeos here. Hope you enjoy... Deset Lake Rd & Bedford Rd (https://youtu.be/IAZYmlg6yis)
Oh yeah - I did screw up in the music credits. :sorry: It's Jonny Winter's Mean Town Blues not Mean Mistreater. It took 8hrs to upload to Youtube, so I can live with that for now.
Nice job Paul. And look at that sky around 4 minutes in. Beautiful.
I need to keep my camera running sooner and longer.
BTW, from my brief poking around, "they say" that huge boom that shook the ground Saturday night was very likely a meteor. Reports were coming in of a fireball.

Just glad it didn't hit my bike, because it was parked at the end of the row and would have dominoed over the rest of the bikes. FJ's is tough, y'all.
Sorry to have missed the Campnride '16. Looking forward to coming again next year.
Thanks for sharing the video, paul. Great job! Friday was a good tour, eh... . . That camera side mount seems to work pretty good, too :good2:. There has been a lot of construction on those roads and we have timed the rides perfectly. The conditions are a big improvement from 5 years ago on Desert Lake Rd .

No, I wasn't holding up a camera in my left hand to take the shot. But I know it looks suspicious. At least the speedometer in this frame grab is within bounds for Ontario.
So now on to Day 2. After we poured ourselves out of bed Saturday morning, and brushed the fur from our mouths we eventually got our asses on the road. The weather was near perfect with temps just below 20degC or high 60's F. Great for full gear and now sweat. There were five FJ's ranging from '84-'92, and Andrew's "baby FJ" FZ600. The route was near identical to last year's Day 2, so I decided to do more with less again. Each video deals with a single road.
The first video is most of Wesport Rd (https://youtu.be/V-wDlzJkcSo), which meanders until it reaches the village of Fermoy and briefly follows the shores of Wolfe Lake. This it where it suddenly turns from lazy to fun for a few minutes. This year I didn't overshoot the decreasing radius hairpin/switchback. :blum1:
The second video is from Bolingbroke Rd. (https://youtu.be/AVqrmYsTBtA) a few minutes further north. This runs up to the village of Maberly on Hwy 7. At this point we are only 90 min from our nations capitol Ottawa, or about 3hrs slabbing it to home for me(4-6hrs on the scenic route). We then stopped for a break (pic'd above) in Perth.
I've mentioned before that the 170deg view of the cam stretches the corners out and makes them seem less twisty.
Anyhow, I may have one or two more left to post for Day 2 in another week or so.
Cool vids, paul. Thanks for that. :drinks:
A pic with all of us and the bikes in Perth.

You guys all look relaxed with no bullies pushing you around. Don't worry though. Next year i will be back with a vengeance. Paul (original81) and I are honing our bully skills. No Cigarette's. Don't remove your helmet! You can pee later!!. Make me a Coffee!! Fix your bike! Get your own damn money!! Wash your bike!! Tune it up!. Those are some of the commands we are working on at present. There will be more to come. We will issue a statement later as per the time we expect responses etc.
:dash1:
:drinks:
Awwww. ...SHUCKS, JV! We missed you , too...
Next year can't come quick enough!! :rofl2:  :drinks:
Good Times!!
I'll be ready for it! I dare ya'!
Another video for Day 2 Saturday Sept 24/16. This is Centennial Lake Rd (https://youtu.be/vlDk0xxu-g4) which was also featured a little in last years video. So again it's the whole road this time. I F'd up on the title and included Matawachan Rd, but this is where the video ends. The guy in charge of continuity (me) didn't tell the editor (me) that the director (me) made a mistake. I talk enough to myself already. I don't need to listen to anymore than I have to.
Heading west. the sun was extremely bright to the point where I had to use my left hand as a shield. My older helmet with the camera mount doesn't have the internal visor, and my shades weren't completely up to the task when we were heading right into it. Last year a bear ran across the road in between some of the bikes, which I missed as I had slowed down due to my migraine at the time. This year no such luck, but there was a clear road the whole way.
There may be another short one to squeeze out for Day 2, and possibly for Day 3 in another week.
I forgot to include an the maps for Day 1, so here they are along with Day 2's. You'll notice on the Day 2 map ther's an odd bit going down Buckshot Rd. That will be explained in the next video...

:i_am_so_happy: Thanks Paul.... very cool! :music:
Cant believe the amount of traffic we encountered, eh. Close to nil
:good2:
A little diversion on the way back to the campsite down Buckshot Lake Rd (https://youtu.be/4_OkbpZKsrM). The sun was getting low, the temps were dropping into the single digits despite how it looks. We got back just past sunset with that chill that runs up your spine. The last hour of the ride was the coldest I've been all year. This global warming is spoiling us for now.
There was a lit up sign when we turned onto Buckshot that MOST OF US (all but one? :mocking:) saw, that said the road was closed - local traffic only. Well since then will a sign stop intrepid explorers. When Sir Edmund Hilary saw "Do Not Climb Everest", did he? When the Donner party saw "Do Not Pass-Winter Coming" did they? Well... maybe they should have listened to that one. But you get the idea.
That's it for Day 2. Maybe something for Day 3 can be salvaged in a while.

It was a nice ride down.... although, there was no detour or side road that could get us around the ....... missing bridge. Lol. It was a nice ride back up, too..... :blum1:
So finally Day 3. After three days and nights of riding, meat, and beer, it was time for everyone to filter home. My only criteria was to "be home for dinner..." , but not before getting a few more klicks on the odometer. Dan (A11anOn) had to start packing up the campsite. Rob (Fuel80guy) had to leave to beat the traffic through Metro Toronto on his way back to the Niagara Region. So once at the campsite exit he split south to the 401, while the rest of us headed north up Co. Rd. 38 to Sharbot Lake. There we gassed up and Andrew (akinc) and his wife Michelle packed up the FZ6 into their custom camper/toy hauler trailer. Now that I've seen it - I want one too! :good2: They had at least another 4 hrs to go back to North Bay. Charlie (Charlie brm) was then off to visit old friends in the area. That left The Two Pauls to scoot around the countryside for a little while longer.

Again the day was sunny and in the mid teens (deg's C). We headed up Co. Rd. 509 (https://youtu.be/TD3yTgc5TEA), which was also partially featured in last years video. Again the video is of most of that road from Snow Road Station west to Plevna. Nil traffic to worry about made for another nice road. The soundtrack is for Charlie to get his Blues fix on.
Once done that we stopped for a quick bite (mine being the worst chiken burger I ever had :bad:). It was mid-afternoon and it was time to head home. As we headed down Hwy 41 we also parted company. I would however get a final kick on Flinton Rd (https://youtu.be/trrVTqgwZiU). A nice little stretch as long as you don't get stuck behind a car. Which I did in the best twisty part. Oh well, we were spoiled with the minimal traffic all weekend so all was not lost. On the map it looks straight, but it's anything but. By the time I made it to Hwy 7, I was less than 2 hrs from home, with a little luck. Well, no such luck. I hit the 401 to slab it home after 3pm just in time for the beginnings of all the thousands of weekend cottagers streaming back to Toronto. :dash2: It was a frustrating bumper to bumper grind for 3 hrs. Last year I had the luxury of the scenic 6hr route looping north around all this shiite. By the time I got home I had to quickly devise a ruse to placate the Missus. Take her out for dinner. Never fails. :pardon:
Flinton Road

Thanks to everyone who showed up: Paulfj03, Charlie brm, Fuel80guy, akinck and to Dan for providing our operating base. A very special thanks to Michele for being a super trooper by taking care of some old sots with her breakfasts and that eccentric "Mexican" bean salad. (popcorn) :drinks:
Hopefully, next year we can get a couple more out and flesh out the field a bit.
I'm already starting to prep for winter storage, so this is it for any videos until next year. :bye:
You guys must have headed up 509 shortly after I parted company at the gas station on Hwy 7. I was visiting in Snow Road Station for a few hours until about 4 p.m. I didn't get in my door until about 10:30 p.m., taking my sweet a$$ time on Hwy 7 to Port Perry and westward, but pushing on none the less with very few stops. I haven't been out riding since!
I am ambivalent about getting at least one more ride in. I want to do some sound checks with the new mic. The forecasts keep changing day to day. Sunday is now supposed to be 40% chance of showers. At 12 degrees max and 35 km/h winds, that's a chilly prospect.
Good work on the videos Paul. I like the "boot cam." Factory Direct is still blowing out those cameras as of this weekend.
