My son Jamie just picked up this '86 for $1200 - Nice clean ride with 71,000 miles on the clock. Could use a valve adjustment, carb sync, valve cover grommets and some little bits. The original owner purchased the bike new in '86 at the age of 45, he passed away when was 70 but was still riding the bike! (note, the bike was NOT the cause of death...) Jamie purchased it from the 2nd owner who had the bike the last 3 years.
Stay tuned I'll be sure Jamie makes a proper introduction!

Awesome! Another Ambulance rides on... It looks to be in really good condition. The Red Power Ranger approves... :good2:
Result. I noted as this years WCR and central gathering, how the red and whites were becoming fewer in number. They are, without doubt, the best color combo.

Indeed Yamaha had a pretty good design department. To have made a bike that after 30 years still has appeal to a 20 year old says a lot.
Awesome stuff!
Glad be was able to get the bike. :good:
Wow, Jamie! Great looking bike you have there -- a super find! I was the same age as you when I got my first FJ, a 1987. I am now 48 and still smitten (I now have two). It sure would look great with a Corbin seat! ;-)
:good2: I have heard very good things from my dad about this group and I am thrilled to be apart of such a helpful and well known group of enthusiasts. Thanks for welcoming me to the clan dad! Also I plan on having this bike at next years Central FJ Rally! (2017) Thanks to Dean for getting my saddlesore issues sorted out with a nice Corbin two-up seat! As you can see I barely got it to fit in my square cube of bikes :-)
Welcome to the forum Jamie!
You will get such a wealth of knowledge from people who really know their stuff. Everyone is so welcoming and they are often going well beyond to help members improve their FJ's. Have fun learning and exploring your new ride. Congratulations!
Dean
no doubt in my mind the big FJ's are THE Bang for the Buck bike of all time - as this 1200 dollar wonder attests.
The Ambulances are beauties but all of them are great looking bikes.
Welcome aboard.
First upgrade of few to come. Corbin seat! Thank you Dean from Canada! I have a passenger backrest from another corbin seat on my TDM that should work with the FJ seat. Next up I will be taking the bike apart for a carburettor cleaning, sync and tune! Along with that I'm replacing the valve cover seal and will be checking the valves and most certainly adjusting them. This bike will keep me occupied for the winter off-season! :good:
