It is the time of year again for the Renegade Rally. I will be again hosting the event based out of the RPM facilities on Oct 6-9th.
Thursday will be the ride in day and we will be riding on Friday and Saturday.
This weekend is followed by a legal holiday on Monday the 10th, so that will allow some an extra day off for some to travel home.
Just like last year, this again will be an all inclusive event with hotel and dinner served on the 7th & 8th. I will have tea, lemonade & water available. Bring your own sodas, alcoholic beverages, or you can purchase locally.
Hoping to be able to put together another raffle like last year as well.
You can leave your FJ's securely locked in the RPM shop at night.
There will be more details in the near future as I can start to a full grasp on the head count.
This is the official head count location as well and I will get it started.

Unfortunately, I can not commit at this time. I will know more by mid September. I have a consulting gig which may put me out of town the first week of October. Key word being "may".
Hopefully I'll be able to swing it. I really had a good time last year.
The Raduechel family puts on a great event. It is A LOT of work.
I have a story about last year....
I opened up a side pocket in my tank bag last March, and bam..an eye watering smell hit me. :bad:
FFS
It seems that "Someone" from last year's Renegade Rally thought it would be funny if they put a pig's ear in there, zip it up, and (conveniently?) forgot to tell me....The damn thing was fermenting in my tank bag for 6 months.
I think I know who is was....They better hope I don't make it this year.
Not sure who put the ear in your bag but I have an idea why they chose an ear.
It was a great turnout last year. Hey! Didn't they see that it clearly says NO PARKING? What a bunch of Renegades....
No Parking --- how about the double yellow lines and 35 mph speed limit in the park ----- I think by the time we got to this point there may have already been a few transgressions. But we did command respect as they graciously gave us an escort from the park that we didn't even have to pay for. Good times for sure and I hope to make it as well but can't commit either yet.

Rock, that was not me....although the vision of 3 drunk guys in their underwear beating the cabin's smoke detector off the ceiling with a broom was PRICELESS!
A mouldy pig's ear does not compare.
The 2017 Renegade Rally is one month away.
I am going to need to get the head count nailed down soon.
I need the numbers so I can get everything I need. Tables, chairs, food. I also need to get the hotel rooms sorted.
Randy - RPM
Randy, can you give a ballpark overall cost at this time?
Andy
I can't, I need to call on hotels.
I haven't done any work on food yet because I need a head count...
I will start crunching numbers early next week.
Randy - RPM
I am now on the fence with commitments and have to change my status to "Maybe". I may not know till the Monday before. :ireful:

The Renegade Rally has always been a great time to ride with friends new and old. Last year Randy and his family went over the top to make this an epic event. Anyone who has the opportunity to go experience the hospitality of RPM and meet the Renegades should not hesitate ....the roads are excellent and there is even a mini Dragon run.
So cancel all other plans and sign up for fun .
Add two more to the attendees
Mark Olson
Craig Zari
I've been on the fence about joining in. In the past work has been an issue, but I can likely make myself scarce for a day or 2 to do this. I think I'm in, but it not cast in cement yet. I'm looking forward to this!
Ed
Okay, we have not been able to nail down solid numbers so far.
It is not too late put throw your name in the hat.
Here is what I have right now.
Attending:
Randy
Chandra
Robert
Jamie
Ryan
Cambry
Ron Oort
Mike Ramos
Andyoutandabout
Mark Olson
Zari
On the fence:
FJmonkey (Mark)
ZOA NOM (Rick) (no final clearance yet...)
Simi Ed
Pat
So, here is the best way to do this now since there is no solid number of attendees. Those who are attending should book their rooms.
If you are attending, everyone stayed at
Holiday Motel
950 E F St
Oakdale, CA 95361
Phone: (209) 847-7023
Right now, I see rooms on a couple of booking sites for $80.00
I will hold off on food right now because since the number is so much smaller than last year, I do not have to plan as far ahead. This will be a BYOB gathering. I will have the food there and will collect for that when you arrive.
We are looking forward to it. Good Friends, good roads and good times.

A couple questions have come my way.
Friday is going to be ride in day. I am not planning any group ride for Friday. There are plenty of good choices for anyone to head out for a ride if wanted.
We will be eating dinner Friday night at RPM.
Saturday will be the ride followed by dinner back at RPM.
Yes, just like last year you can keep your FJ in the secured and monitored alarm RPM shop.
No, I am not planning on doing any work prior to the rally. It is too difficult to try and work on bikes and be a good host. We will have Sunday & Monday available for work if needed.
I will post up the middle of next week to hopefully get the final head count. I need to get all of the table & chairs ordered along with the food. I will need to get this done by the 30th. 10/3 is my 30th wedding anniversary and we are going to head out of town for a few days. I would like to be able to come back and be ready for the rally.

Pat or anyone else for that matter, you are more then welcome to ride in on Thursday. There are plenty of good rides from here.
After last year, I learned trying to be the host, working on a couple of bikes and trying to ride on Friday did not work out very well.
This year, I figured to stay at the shop to welcome those who arrive on Friday. That way they are not left sorting out what to do if I'm out riding.
Feel free to come on Thursday, we can surely grab dinner as a group then too.

Ironic... I am working desperately to put fires out. The 14 plus hour days are hard when you are not used to it. Even if I do make it I won't have any Thermite.
Just in case someone needs something else to do while in town on Saturday, there is an open house at the airport featuring some vintage planes.

Well, the rally offically started last night with the arrival of Pat, Cap'n Ron, FJ Monkey and Simi-Ed.

A closer view.

It still had the mounting tab so it looks very FJ. Ed and I are wondering if you have an interesting back story from the early RPM exhast development about it.
Special note: If we had Pat's observation skills it likely would have turned to rust before anyone discovered it.
Good eye to spot that. Could you tell me approximately how high that is so I know how big a ladder is required. I need a pair of those for my 93.
 Dave

The back story...
While checking back pressure of the exhaust systems we used the single cylinder lawn mower engine as the base output. Since the stock muffler was the last one on the engine we left it there and mounted it up there.
I also have some...
