Title: 1986 FJ 1200
Post by: Ckobesko on July 28, 2016, 01:34:53 PM
Thinking about purchasing one with 60000 miles but seems very well cared for. Search northern WI Craig's wanted 2500 down to 1500. What you think?

Do you mean FJ? I don't think they offered an XJ1200

Thanks for the link, I corrected the original title post from xj 1200 to FJ 1200.

The bike looks good in the add photos. Corbin seat, desired by many over the stock seat. Suppertrap exhaust. All the plastic is present. It is a decent price if the bike runs well. If you can get it out for a test ride you should test second gear. Find a safe empty straight road and roll on the throttle hard in 2nd gear.. If you can get past 8 or 9K RPM then 2nd gear is still good. If it starts to pop in and out like a rev-limiter then note the RPM where it happens. My '86 does this at around 7K. I have been riding it for many years like this by shifting to 3rd by 7K.
