I changed the oil in my FJ the other day - it's been a while and I did have a fuel shut off valve failure some time ago that caused the carburators to overflow. Did any gas make its way into the engine? Don't think so but what the heck - it's been a while. So down to the local motorcycle shop for Yamaha synthetic - cost is now $21.95/quart. But I noticed the tab around one of the containers saying 20 years / 100,000 miles. Since I don't see riding the bike that far should I put a mark on my calendar for July 2036 as being my next scheduled oil change?
No, that oil is so superior that you can easily go 40 years or 200.000 miles without changing the oil... :praising:
Ironi aside, this is what Yamaha means:
"We are so confident we craft the highest quality motorcycle oil in the industry that we will warrant the performance of Yamalube in your new Yamaha Street motorcycle's* engine for 20 years or 100,000 miles, whichever comes first**."
"*Subject to customer's compliance with all program requirements. See Qualified Product under Yamalube Street Bike Product Engine Lubrication Limited Warranty ("Yamalube Advantage") Terms and Conditions.
**See Yamalube Advantage for full terms and conditions."
OK. At least I now know what they mean. I wonder how you would ever collect on that kind of warranty. But, hey, nothing is too good for my baby! Even at $21.95/quart.
