Looking for an aftermarket rear shock for my Snoay. Penske or Ohlins or if there are any other suggestions......got the FZ1 forks....Going to leave the extended swing for now.....until I put on the new forks and shock and see where we're at. Thx

Hey Kev, technically you would need a stronger spring to control the force exerted by the longer swingarm (longer cantilever)
I would guess* something in the 1200+ lb range. Once the spring rate is determined then the shock should be valved to the spring rate.
*Give the pros at Traxxion Dynamics a call, they can help you with specifics. Once they give you a recommendation on spring rate, you can have a better idea what to look for when shopping.
To open up more possibilities, getting a wider selection of shocks, you may want to convert back to the oem length swingarm sooner, rather than later, also so you don't have to go to the added expense of changing out to a lighter spring and re-valving the shock.
If you are considering going the RPM route, I would check first with Randy to see if his shock will work with your extended swingarm, I'm not sure it will.
The RPM shock with the lighter (than normal) spring and IAT valving was designed with specific criterion (e.g.oem swing arm) Your longer swingarm changes that.

Rev Pat.....since the day I joined, you have never steered me wrong.......The arm is going...so I should post it up for sale....it looks cool......but not so cool if you end up on your kiester.......I have already grabbed a FZ1 Swing Arm......and that is the last piece of the puzzle........CanD was dialed in at 1200.....and she glided like an Angel..... I have called Penske and they want a grand plus shipping plus whatever duty I need to pay (US FUNDS)......but I thought I would send up a flare first b4 I drop the anvil........always a pleasure to hear from you my brother.......I will keep you posted...and thanks Pat
