Title: Tripometer button and booty
Post by: Joe Sull on July 16, 2016, 03:19:15 PM
I got a replacement button and booty for my Tripometer. Anyone done this repair cause I can't figure out if the booty goes inside under the glass or outside. If it's outside, there doesn't seem to be enough throw to trip the setting. If it goes inside then it looks like it won't seal.

The boot should have a groove at the base that fits in the hole in the plastic cover.

I had the speedo unit out of the panel. The little actuator shaft looks like it's working right. There's enough shaft their to put the button and the booty on but it's not long enough to actuate or some things missing. It seals and looks good.

Thanks for you post Rick

Joe,

Make sure the old remaining portion of the boot has been removed. The new boot will slip into the hole of the lens, but there is not a way to have a true, positive seal like the O.E. boot had.
