Went for my 1st ride today. Road to Colonial Beach VA and back home I put about 82 miles on the bike man love the big gas tank and gas gauge. When out riding my vmax i would you use the trip meter i hated use it ran out gas before. And after around the 80 miles mark my lower back would start hurting. The fj1200 no problems so far.
Also today I install a new chain and 40 size rear sprocket but my buy later a 39 size sprocket.
"O" to paint the rims today.
Compared to the Vmax, the FJ is a much better long haul rider. In a good state of tune, you should easily get upwards of 200 miles to a tank. On my long ride yesterday, I was able to ride 150 miles without stopping, 5 times. Total seat time was 1094 miles in 18 hours.
I would never attempt that on my Vmax.
Fred
That chain looks tight, you got any slack in that or is it an obstacle illusion? Dam Fred i didn't see you had an 85 V maxx, that's awesome, one of my other most favorite bikes though I never had one.
I had a 1985 v max it was a good straight line hot rod.
the FJ1200 is a good road bike does most things good
large gas tank mid 40's mpg mostly and corners well too
I liked my v-max but going for any rides like all day!
it's the FJ all the way.
my FJ is a 1989 FJ1200

Yes chain has slack, my vmax hurts on long rides. I was getting just about 100 miles to the tank safe zone to stop for gas. and have 1977 kz1000 use to drag race in the 80s. I don't ride the kz1000 any more just stays in the house.
Sounds great. Very clean bike!
And um.. it looks like a you have a crouched man from the shoulders up on the back of your Vmax :rofl2:
Wow that KZ is awesome looking. I was telling some one on here that I got my license back in the 80's on an LTD 1000 that belonged to my brother.
I started riding bikes back in the 70's, I been through a lot of bikes over the yours. RD350 was my 1st real bike. Thanks
