Thanks to Andy G, a member of this forum, I am the proud owner of dark dark blue 1989 FJ1200(I had initially thought it was black but in the bright sun you can really see the blue flake) . She is AMAZING !! I finally was able to take her on an extended trip up through the "twisties" in the Northwest Georgia mountains. I have always been a fan of this bike but never owned one. Now I can relate to everyone's vigor about this motorcycle. She has plenty of power to spare and thanks to the R1 brake mods and the suspension tuning, she is more than capable to handle these roads. Glad to be a new member of the FJ owners family.
Welcome man! Nice bike you have there eh!
Cheers!

Welcome Todd! You have scored a beauty.
I'll keep an eye out for you, for a fuel tank. Pat
Congrats and welcome. When I first saw a blue 89 in full sun light. I thought it was the best looking bike I had ever seen.

Thanks Pat !!
whats wrong with your tank?
The tank has a dent to the right of the fuel filler.
I guess I could have attached a pic of her... here you go !!
Todd
That's a pretty good ding, get the right sized tank bag, gain some storage and cover the eyesore at the same time. I'll ask around if anyone has a spare tank in my neck of the woods. The guy I bought my bike from has that same exact bike as you, though I was certain that bike was black. I thought my 90 model was black on the bottom but in the light its so dark midnight blue it kind of looks purple. That is a fine looking bike you have, if you're anything like me every time you walk past it puts a smile on your face. :good2:

Yes indeed!
When you park your FJ and walk away, do you find yourself turning around and looking at her? Admiring her beauty? I do...
That's how you can tell the FJ fire is still burning.
I DO !!! I also frequently go to downstairs to my shop to look at her. She is just SOO SEXY !! LOL Yesterday I was fueling up and the guy next to me was drooling over her. He could not believe that its an '89. He said "that is the cleanest bike I have seen". Thanks to Andy Goddard for taking such great care of her over the years!!
Andy, gave me a bunch of stuff with her(you can see the rear wheel and the bags behind the bike in the pic) including a GIVI tank-bag and a set of panniers. I have been using the tank bag while riding and I actually forget about the ding, so it works great.
Yes Pat the FJ does emit a mesmerizing trance. Funny, of all the bikes Ive ever owned, this near 30 year old bike was the one that gave me that feeling. Might just be the pride of bringing it back to life from the milk crates. Allot to be said about what goes into your bike that comes from your heart, its different than just buying one to have something to ride.
re: 30 year old bike.
"New" is just for a moent; "great" is forever
