Title: Quick question on clutch piston seal orientation
Post by: wirehairs on May 21, 2016, 02:46:35 PM
93 FJ1200 ABS.  Replacing the original clutch line with a SS one and figured I'd replace the piston seals.  I think the middle seal shown here should be flipped around.  Am I correct?  Neither of my 2 manuals show a good pic of it.

Yep, its on bassakwards. I just took mine apart and the cup is facing towards the fluid, away from the dust seal. Well, it was really one that came off my '89 and it sitting in my parts box. As a general rule the open end of a seal faces the fluid. Imagine as pressure increases it expands the cup getting a stronger seal.

Thanks.  I figured it was wrong, so I'm glad I asked.
