I have used one from a 2001-2002 (RP04), so that definitely will fit.

I'm just curious... why not simply use the stock master cylinder?  They are still available from Yamaha.

Interesting.  Checking the parts catalog shows that the clutch master for an '86 is indeed obsolete, but the master for a '92 is still available... $116.  I wonder what the difference is.  They both take the same rebuild kit.  Hmmm...

92 maybe ABS?

ABS and non/ABS take the same clutch master.  I may have to dig my '85 clutch master out of the box and compare it to my '92 master.  Tomorrow; not tonight...

I agree, don't over do it.seals will leak with heating from over packing.co workers and I disagree on bearings also.some use grease to prelude oil bathed bearings.I say no.grease has a resistance to move which can starve a bearing of its designed fluid ultimate bearing seizure.

I got a brand new Yamaha clutch master from Partzilla PN# 3BV-26450-10-00 for an 89 $115.00
Used it as a replacement on my 85. The bolts that hold the leaver on is  not available but Fastenal order me some for 2 bucks
The only mounting issue is the old one had a tab that keeps the master and the signal switch pod connected
a bit of black RTV sealant between the two and it fine .
