Title: May 21st Southern Ontario FJ clinic.
Post by: fj johnnie on May 10, 2016, 08:41:58 PM
Just a reminder that the FJ clinic is coming up soon. Thanks to Charlie for speaking to Yamaha Canada. A large box of Yamaha swag is here and a large Yamaha banner. Come out if you can. If you need my address, PM me and I will send it to you. John

Dan and I are taking the scenic route through the US again with a couple ferry rides on the way. We'll see you on Friday late afternoon-ish.
Thanks for putting this on, eh JV...

Thanks to charlie for his efforts too. Again he and Yamaha Canada have come through with flying colours. We have banners from RPM and Yamaha... does it get any better???       ‎

Be good to see some new, and familiar, faces again.

Should be good.

I hear you. I only got mine idling nicely and not smoking, this past Tuesday. The smoke was excess oil from the UNI pod filters just installed.
Then two 12 hour days at work and I only have Friday to take a shake down run and sort it for Saturday. You won't see any change from last May, that's how bad the last year has been for me in regards to recreational pursuits.

I am hoping there will be a slot of time in the work shop when I can get the carbs synched, pretty please. It's been several years since I synched them and with the wrestling to get them in and out a few times this month, I'd like to see that they are at optimum.

Ride super safe guys and see you in 2 sleeps.

My UNI-PODS are on the shelf...my carb issues were worse than i could deal with...took to a race shop in Cambridge...Stock air box is in with 42.5's and my supertrapp...now time to sort rest of bike out in upcoming weeks..Bike has went maybe 600 kms in 3 yrs with me slapping 100 of that today..Got Gixxer rear done with my Forks and FZR rim to go on tomorrow...Trying like hell to ride up Saturday!

Come by car if you have to Sabre, but I wouldn't mind seeing a GXSR conversion while it's fairly fresh in your mind to go over the details.

If you have any more of those LED dash bulbs could you please bring some...

Thanks,
Dan

I'll be bringing the Motion Pro carb  synch tool with the spare mini tank, the Motion Pro chain alignment tool for us visually impaired, cam cover grommets for my weeping head  :cray: ... And some homemade baked goodies courtesy The Mrs.  And whatever else I think may be of use.  I'll try to remember not put the goodies and gas tank in the same hard bag.  (popcorn)

Mssr Wagar suggested I calibrate the carb synch tool before I get there cuz it's still in the package.  If I can't do that today I'll come "early" on Saturday to do it there before it get bizzy.  Early = 9-10 am ? If that's ok. I can be there earlier if required - if your not too hung over still.

Just went out for a test run on Thursday. Other than synching, replacing grommets and bleeding the hydraulics, I'm all set... Probably  :scratch_one-s_head:

Will do (they are around here somewhere). I can't remember if it was the ones with 2 rows or 3 rows of elements that you got. I'll bring both, and some blue ones if anyone else is reading this.
Also I have a few 30A relays and harnesses, etc.

Great. That saves me looking for a mini tank on short notice.

One thing I see I have lost - again - is the plastic cover that snaps into the top of the rear caliper housing. 1984 FJ if that differs and anyone has a spare.

We missed having you there Sabre. I just got home at 6:30 p.m. It was surprisingly cool riding today and "uneventful" the way I like it.

Several of the bikes got some well needed carb synchronizing done. Mine was way off optimum.

I'll let the others chime in, in due time.

Dan and I rolled into the 'nee' just after 8pm... we hit traffic in the GTA and struggled to get through the city. All is good, though, and I had a great time. :yahoo:

Everything went great until I got back to Paul's place in Napanee and I back my bike into his utility trailer in his driveway, I took a photo for his insurance company...

Where is Cap'n Obvious when you need him?

It was time for a break/rest and we happened to stumble upon the perfect spot before crossing the border back into Canada.  :yahoo:

Good times... Great to see everyone again... GTA traffic BLOWS!!!!

I shoulda' told you to pay the toll and take the 407 to 404 south then 401 east.  You would have avoided that 80km traffic jam from Burlington east. Probably $20 in tolls.  If the camera reads your plate.  For the next time.

I made it home under 2hrs.  Sooner if not for the bicycle race that I ran into...   :shout:

Thanks fjjhonnie for a great event.  The bike runs like a top now after the synching (thanks paulfj09).  Replaced the grommetts for cam cover so she doesn't weep any more.

Now just need to ride  ride  ride   :gamer:
