Hi everyone... well.. it looks like after selling my old FJ1100 and having since owned a ZX-11 and now a ZX-14, I find myself lured back in with what seems to be an unbeatable deal.... I don't have any damn need for another sport tourer, but this thing is just too good to pass up, so I've made arrangements to come check it out and purchase it... but, I was wondering if anyone has EVER seen this fairing before. I know I haven't. It almost looks like a custom made Concours fairing...
For those interested, the bike has 6k (YES, 6000) original miles, was stored for a long time, idles and has decent compression, and pretty much just needs a carb cleaning and maybe some new fuel filters/lines and possibly clean the tank. The paint and fairing/etc is pretty much immaculate and he's only asking 1000 bucks, which is why I just couldn't resist. I really want an off-road enduro along the lines of an xr650l, but I figure at this price I can keep it if I like it or trade it for one later on and make out pretty well on the deal.

What do you guys think? He said a shop ran compression tests on it the other day and it was great... I'm pretty sure at 6k miles and that condition it would be... you all know these things are bulletproof. I am asking for a copy of the compression tests to be sure, though. I seriously can't figure out where this fairing came from... he said it fits the tank perfectly, too, so if it's a custom job they really went all out.
Unique for sure....foggy memory but I think I have seen it before on this forum? :morning2:
The fairing is made by Pichler. They were all the rage back in the day, and still are highly regarded in Europe.

Fred is the winner!!! Spot on. :good2:

Man, They look fantastic in those color schemes!!
Did you say $1000. A THOUSAND DOLLARS!? Why doesn't it ever rain doughnuts on me?!
Snap it up. Don't think too hard about it. Just do it. If you decide not to keep it you can easily flog it for more. Even to me...

+1 on that, the plastic alone might get your money back.

That's exactly what I said! Then I noticed the miles.. 6k?? Heck, my ZX-14 has 8800 now! I'm gonna have a really hard time justifying two bikes that essentially do the same thing, but luckily my girlfriend just got her endorsement, so maybe she will eventually grow out of her ex500 and have a nice bike to ride with me on tours.
Best part is that he even had it compression tested at a shop and gave me their info so I could make sure everything was great. I figure a little carb cleaning and it's good to go!
I'd call a guy crazy for passing up on that FJ for $1,000. Just saying....

It got even wilder... I put a new battery in it and it fired right up.. Doesn't even need the carbs cleaned. Dumped the tank, splashed in some fresh 91 octane and she runs fantastic. I do think it could use a main steering bearing, though, and the shocks are SUPER soft. It does ride pretty nice, though!
hi i like the bike a lot. but i am tired of saying it. i have to wait till i get the $. i bet, when i get it, all mint low mile turn key FJ's will be gone. :( but i am staying positive. Diesel/Russ
If I'd known $1k might take it, it probably would've been headed east on my trailer a couple of weeks ago. :pardon:
Thats a hell of a nice bike for a grand and add a battery / gas turn key to boot wow man that was a good find.
did you buy it ? if not where is it and is it still available.

Any information about this one?
Lockhart aftermarket lower I think. But the Lockhart ones I have seen are not a full lower, more like a 3/4.
It is definitely not a Lockhart Phillips cowling. Targa made a version, but it was more like a pair of panel inserts that incorporated the OEM belly cowling. Skidmarx currently makes a full lower cowling that looks similar, but it is for the '91 models and later. Photo is the Skidmarx cowling. I am going to make another guess based on the European length rear fender. The manufacturer could be in the UK
