OK FJers it time for a Man Cave day. Get your carbs balanced, Chain and sprockets fitted, Brake pads or what ever can be done in a day done. BBQ lunch and a cold beer. When will this be you ask. I must get to one you say.
28th May 2016
At my place. PM for Address if you will be along.

Count me in Richard, :good2: I was wondering when the next one was gonna be on. I'll bring the tools for the timing advance mod if anyone wants it done.
Me 2 . My mate who bought my shim kit and valve tool said he'd lend it to me for the day. 10 bucks a shim and a pat on the back for good old ken. Hehe. See ya soon.
Ps. . Richard is it ok if I just get dropped off?
I'm only a couple of Roger Gould punt kicks away from petrie so i can get smashed. Ha ..
Anyone from NSW or Victoria thinking about heading north for this epic event? I'm thinking seriously about going so a traveling partner or two will definitely help sway my decision! I try not to ride on major or straight roads (if at all avoidable) so if this scares you, find your own way there.
Regards, Pete.
Ken that would be fine and would love a shim job on the 88.
Big call Pete and if you get here I will look after you.

Not sure I can do this as I fly over to Europe a few days later. Might be cutting it a bit close. Otherwise i'd be your tail end charlie Pete.
What route would you be taking ?

G'day Jools, flying to Europe a few days after, is a pretty piss poor excuse to get out of this one!
It would be great to have you along for the ride, mate. Haven't got a definite route planned at this stage but am thinking along the lines of Bathurst, Sofala, Mudgee, Merriwa, Willow Tree, Nundle, Walcha, Inverell and then through to Brisbane via "open to suggestions".
Happy to fit in with anyone coming along as long as it's not straight up the quickest highway to get there. Life's too short to spend riding down boring highways.
Regards, Pete. :drinks:

Do it Jools!...ya know you wanta! :drinks:
Yeah
I do want to go pretty badly.
The trouble is my current work contract finishes on the Friday 27th and I need all the cash as I'm gonna be away for almost 6 weeks.
Just don't think all the ducks will line up to allow me to get away any earlier. Let me work on it.
Jools
Pete
when would you be passing through Sydney, and how long do you estimate for the trip ?
I drove Sydney to toowoomba a few times up the New England non stop and it wasn't fun.

Jools, my rough plan at the moment is going via Goulburn to Bathurst, so not going anywhere near Sydney. I will be on the New England Hwy for only a very short stretch between Willow Tree and Wallabadah. The ride from Wallabadah via Nundle and Walcha to Inverell is pretty good, with some tight windy stuff and some fairly open country with spectacular countryside.
Leaving home Thursday 26th May and returning Sunday 29th. (if Richard can put up with me for that long?)
I will be taking my swag and camping gear with me but using it depends on the weather. I should be away from home for 5 days or maybe 6 if I get the urge to do a bit of sight seeing.
Regards, Pete. :drinks:

Sounds great Pete will have a bed for you here and a cold ale. And steak BIG steaks
Thats a good route.
If I got away early Friday, I'd Freeway up to Raymond Terrace, then turn on to the Bucketts Way up to Walcha for an overnight at Inverell or Glen innes, then starting off the final leg early Saturday. Maybe Gwydir Hwy to Grafton finding the Clarence Way North and take it from there.
(Richard - can you PM me your address please)
Then I would have to start the return leg early enough Sunday for any contingencies !! Plus a stopover to be home on Monday.
looks like its do able if the old girl can make it.

You can get it riding
You can get it balancing carbs
you can get putting FJ's in a row
matter of fact I got it now.
These Mild ales shine with the character of the mighty FJ.
The hops shine through and both are triple hopped for full flavour. Mashed a little higher to add body and cold conditioned for weeks to mellow the flavours these are a Motorcyclist delight.
The darker color shows the true heart of the FJ
With the 1200 hopped with Ella hops and the 1100 hopped with Melba and at 3.8% ABV it would be a shame to have just one.
These limited edition Ales can only be found at the FJ man cave day.
That's the best hopped-up FJ I have ever seen. :drinks: Dave
What's this!!! FJ beer?? : :yahoo: Has it got the low end urge, ( first taste, want more) mid range punch ( feeling warm and fuzzy) and top end kick (head spin) like the bike has. Mmmm... Can't wait to find out. :drinks:

Hey Richard, do you need us to bring any specialised tools next weekend like vice grips, rattle guns, gaffa tape, big hammer and chisels etc...or are you suitably equipped. Also will some of that FJ brew be up for auction in case I get the taste for it and need to take a few home. :nyam2:

Bike's all loaded, ready for departure tomorrow morning. Meeting up with Johno and Troy, just up the coast from home. They'll escort me for a while, maybe up to Kangaroo Valley or a bit further. Spending tomorrow night at my son's place, out on the Wombeyan Caves road. Leaving there Thursday morning, heading for Inverell via Bathurst, Mudgee, Merriwa, Nundle, Walcha and Uralla. Friday morning, to Richards place via all the back roads I can find.
See you all Saturday.

ok, thats good. Want to watch it all very carefully this time so I will know how to do mine at a later date. This procedure still has me stumped!
Big thanks to Richard for hosting this shed day, it was a great day and actually standing room only with quite a few new faces turning up. New tyres were fitted, shims checked, timing advances done, and carbs synced.

It was great to finally meet Pete and luckily him and Richard didn't drink all the FJ brew the night before so there was some to try out with the BBQ lunch. A very nice drop indeed that was icy cold and went down very well with the chicken wings and snags. It was good to catch up with everyone again and meet some new faces. These shed days should happen more often. A few more pics.

Finally got around to posting some pic's and a brief description of my trip to the Manshed day.
Firstly let me say a big thank you to Richard and Julie for putting up with me for the weekend. They are great hosts and welcomed me into their home like a family member. Had a great time talking and enjoying their company. A big thanks also to all the FJer's that turned up on Saturday. It was a great turnout. I was a bit doughy for the first part of the day (beer tasting the previous night) but all seemed to go very well. I was so consumed with all the activities on the day, I neglected to take any photo's, so my apologies. Maybe next time!
I covered 3,814 km's for the trip, about 800 or so on dirt and sometimes almost non existent roads. Saw some fantastic scenery and met some great people along the way.
On the first day I had Troy and Johno riding along with me. I met them on my way up the coast. It was great to catch up with them and ride up and down a couple of mountains before going our seperate ways. Thanks fellas, most enjoyable.
