Nice!
I need a couple of rear shocks... not sure what I'm waiting for. :sorry:
Who makes the shock?
Where did you get it?
Any mods necessary?

Here is an example of the YSS shock for the 1988-1990 FJ1200

The shock is made by YSS. Their shocks are used by many road-racing teams, so they must be OK :good2:
I got it from here: http://www.biketeile-service.de/ (http://www.biketeile-service.de/) , but they have suppliers all over the world.
No mods, made for FJ1100. You can also get it for the 1200.
I think it is the cheapest option for a new quality shock for the FJ's.
Did it increase the height of the bike?
Some shocks are taller and the rear wheel touches when the center stand is down.
Installed it yesterday and it did not increase/decrease the ride height. The lenght of the shock can be adjusted +/- 10mm.
I was afraid that it would be a nightmare to adjust preload because of access problems when installed. However, it turns out that if you just take out the batterybox, there is plenty of room to do the adjustment thorugh the rear frame. Very easy

FWIW, the forward part of rear fender can be removed with 2 bolts. And then you have good access to your shock with out removing the battery.
Yea, I like the Penske design, you can get to the preload collar and rebound ring from the bottom.
Although, once set up, I've never had to change it.
I see on the YSS website you can order this shock with an adjustable shaft for the '84-'87 folks without dog bones.
Bang for the buck, this YSS shock looks like a screamin deal.

Good point, I will check if that is easier.

One more trick I picked up from Randy....
With the GSXR hugger installed, I have left the forward portion of the rear fender off.
