Anyone done business with Exotic Sportsbike, an on line parts store? They have good price on new Corbin gunfighter seat. I may pull the trigger on one. I think most have been happy with this seat. Not that there is much else out there for the FJ. I have a stock seat which is perfect condition but from what I here the Corbin is a better. Being a munchkin, I probably will appreciate that it has little lower height.

No experience here with being a muchkin, but you might want to test sit a Corbin before buying.
A lot of shorter riders find that the lower Corbin seat height is offset by the extra width.

I've had the Stock seat, Gunfighter, and Gunfighter/lady on my '89. I prefer the Gunfighter and lady seat and that's what I keep on it. It's got a nice abrupt rise behind the saddle that keeps me from siding back when accelerating--something that I found myself doing with the stock seat, and I wouldn't consider myself an aggresive rider. It is more firm than the stock seat, and wider. Also a bit lower which does make the pegs feel a bit higher. However, if you don't mind having your knees bent a little more, I find the lower feel to the seat puts me more in the 'pocket' of the bike and I like it.
The Gunfighter seat /solo seat has a longer saddle--the abrupt rise behind the saddle is further back--too far back for my liking, however a taller rider may prefer this. I'm 5-10 and have the stock bars.
This has been my experience--I'm assuming that all Corbin FJ seats are all proprotionally the same by model- but I'm not sure of this.

Any idea how much lower the seat is vs the stock one? I have very long legs (35" inseam) and I would actually like the saddle a bit higher than stock. Or at least higher than the stock seat is once I compress the foam with my big ass. I spoke with someone at Corbin a few weeks ago and he said that that it was "roughly" the same height as stock. I was going to get the saddle at least .5" taller than stock, but now I am unsure. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I just went to the garage and measured them. The Corbin Gunfighter and Lady is 1" lower than the stock seat. I no longer have the Gunfighter solo seat but from what I can remember, I would guess the height would be similar to the Gunfighter and Lady.
I doubt you'd compress the foam on the Corbin very much--it's pretty darn firm.

I have a Gunfighter+Lady, and I can tell you that it ** is wider than stock**, and this does offset the lower height of the Corbin. I had mine fitted at Corbin when I got it, and I had them add about 1-1.5". This made my life a bit better on my legs/knees. If possible, I'd try to test a seat or have it fitted at Corbin, if possible.

The Corbin is generally wider than stock, for most bikes. I have ridden maybe 4 different bikes with Corbins on them and all of them felt wide at the seat. I guess it depends in part at least, on how much time you spend actually riding and how much time you spend with your feet on the groud. While riding the additional width is really nice. While standing not so much, especially if you are under-tall. So, if you do a lot of stop and go and/or you are short, a Corbin may not be the best choice.
Apparently, last I heard, Seargent will rebuild your seat pan, or sell you a completely custom seat with you choice of foam densities, and shapes. Alway wondered how the process of articulating your seat requirements juxstaposed against what you actually got would go...

Great replies. I don't give a great priority to seat height at a stop but would cool to actually put both feet on the ground at the same time. Alas with the Corbin's wider seat they may not happen after all. As mentioned my stock seat is in good condition so no reason to rush into buying something. Taking Ed up on the try out would be a good idea.

Thanks for the info guys. Knowing that Corbin's saddles run lower than the stock I'm definitely going to have them add an inch. My last bike was a 2000 Concours with a Corbin (purchased it with the saddle on it with 3,500 miles on it back in 01', but it was hit by some ass while parked outside a friend's house in Brooklyn this past summer) saddle and I really liked the firmness/ support it gave me for the 75K miles I had it. With my goon legs (I'm 5'11" with basically no torso) I never have a time on the FJ where I wouldn't like some more room, and when I'm on the saddle for more than 150 or so miles my legs get rather surly about the cramped quarters.
Mike, if you can ride this Sat then you the Corbin on my bike. Or you could try it on yours.
I am 5'8" ish and have a 30" inseam, so I noticed the difference between the stock and the gunfighter/gunfighter lady instantly. with the 3 seats I can sit and have my feet barely flat footed while stopped (solo without raised suspension). While riding I find the corbins much better. while stopped, the stock is more comfortable (skinnier). My wife on the back notices the differences in wind she gets hitting her. On the gunfighter lady, she sits higher and I sit lower......so of course more wind for her, less for me. In the end, she still prefers the corbin over the stock, and so do I.

thanks for the post mike, that is a really good price for a corbin i see people trying to sell used ones for that price. i am looking for something a little more comfy for the long rides, and my wife seems to complain about the seat after a long ride also. i was just wondering if any one else had good luck making the wife happy with the gunfighter + lady seat?
