Title: The damnable headlight adjuster - great solution.
Post by: JPaganel on March 18, 2016, 10:44:18 PM
I am now in possession of a great little thing that is going to forever resolve the silly broken adjuster.

The thing in question is this:

1/4" Square Drive Socket, 4-Point Standard, 3/16" Size, 7/8" Overall Length

McMaster-Carr part number 5543A11

This socket fits snugly over the square adjuster screw and can be turned with any 1/4" ratchet with a U-joint. No drilling needed, although I suppose if you wanted to mount it permanently you could drill a hole for the pin.

Not quite the same thing.

1/4" u-joint in reverse fits over the bolt loosely. I'm not sure that it would work at all without the pin. Also, there is the matter of drilling the other end for the handle.

Mainly, buying this socket would let you not do any drilling at all. If you don't have a drill press, drilling a socket would be a major pain.
