My dad and best friend passed away peacefully in his sleep yesterday. He was just over a month from his 92nd birthday, now I have to find a new fishing partner. He was a WW2 vet, landed in France on D Day in a tank. Gonna miss him. Thànks for the memories Dad. See on that big lake in the sky. Big R
Sorry for your loss. Soon there will be no more WW2 vets left. I think your Dad experienced far more in his almost 92 years than most men. My Dad is 88, in poor health and also WW2 vet. I don't look forward to his loss either. My sympathy. Dave
Sorry to hear the sad news, he had a long life making it to that old age, the Canucks had Normandy beach, the Americans had Omaha beach, Normandy was heavily fortified compared to Omaha, the Canadians walked into hell on that beach, its know wonder your father lived to 92, if he could make it through that hell. God bless him and I am greatfull for his service to Canada and the free world as we know it. Don
Sorry to hear about your loss...and the loss of a good man, who stepped up when it was most needed and that allows us to continue to enjoy the freedoms what most of the world can only imagine. My dad also served...loves to fish and is a great man. I'm not even remotely prepared for his passing...My thoughts are with you.

Kurt
Thank you for all the thoughts. I am going to miss a lot. Big R
Sorry to hear about your loss. I'm sure you have lots of memories to cherish. My Dad turns 80 later this year and is still in relatively good health. He lost one brother at age 28 and his only other brother at age 38 - both to cancer. I think my Dad has felt like he's living on borrowed time. Truth is, we all are. Make the most of each day. Remember the good times...

Words fail me right now, but I'm very sorry to hear of your loss.
Hey Big R
My condolences to you and your family.
I lost My Dad and best friend in 2013 to cancer.
I still, and will continue to miss him deeply.
Regards,
Jeff P
Having lost my father years ago I still don't know what to say in times like this. It sucks, it hurts, its life and we can't change it. Remember the good times, some of him lives on in you.... As a war vet , he should get one of the best fishing spots in that lake.
I'm sorry for your loss. I hope his memory will continue to be a blessing for you.
Vale to the man.
Few are as fortunate to live as long.
Even fewer pass peacefully.
Shed your tears, but celebrate his life.
Cheers to your Dad - keep your memories of him alive!
Always a hard thing to deal with no matter what stage of life you are in. Comfort in the fact he lived well beyond what we would call "expectations", and was able to live an active life in his senior years. Also in the legacy he left behind in you and your immediate family, to spend that valuable time with him, and to still be his best friend and fishing partner. I'm sure he has no regrets.
condolences
I am sorry to hear of your loss.
You are in my thoughts.
Sorry for your loss. I have the greatest respect for WW2 veterans. 92 years of age..Wow what a life!
Sorry to hear of your dad's passing Ray. You are fortunate to have had your father as your best friend for so long. It sounds like you have made many memories together to keep him close to your heart. Next time you go fishing, bring an extra rod and cast a line for him.
Derek
Sincere condolences.
I too lost my Dad, friend and riding buddy a couple of years ago.
Never forgotten.
