Title: Riverside gearheads
Post by: theLeopard on February 29, 2016, 06:31:18 PM
K i finally have the funds to do an overhaul.

If any gearheads want to open up their garage I'll shamelessly occupy your space and get drunk while you do all the work.

Need to rebuild my forks, replace the head gasket, measure all my gaps, upgrade my jets, synch my fuel ratios, and ideally clean every inch of metal.

If you are talking about jetting for a '92 with a stock airbox. stock main and air bleed jets and 40 pilots would be what you are looking for.

I'm more curious how adding a half quart of conventional oil made your bike "run like shit".  :morning2:

Who moved my topic to maintenance?  :morning2:

I suppose i belong in the back covered in grease so i'm going to take it as a compliment.

How's everyone been? Any fireballs or fights with trucks lately? Let's hope not, it's been quite awhile since we had some bad news.

I am going ahead with an engine rebuild. The ping developed a knock, and the bike sounds like it's sneezing.
Was wondering if anyone knows the factory vacuum setting.
Surprised my chain didn't kill me. Replaced that thing, more bad links than good.

Bill, i might. The bulldog bit me pretty bad but i'm kinda over it.
At this point my fj is the devil i know, and it's treated me so well it might well be an angel.
Didn't even give me road rash when i hit a corner at 90 with no oil in my right fork and got the wobbles.

:drinks:

Good man.

I changed over to synthetic without changing the filter, then dumped the extra before checking the level after running the motor.
Light flicked on, picked up the first 1040 quart i saw and it's been idling a little rough since then. Nothing momentous, maybe ±125rpm.
