G'day,
well after months off the road, I finally got Lily sorted with a new engine. :yahoo: I bought it off ebay, supposedly with 16,000kms, so I took a punt. :good2: Fired her up for the first time tonight, ah what a sweet sound! She does not blow smoke, no rattles, and almost idles straight off the mark. I will be riding locally to shake things down, look for stuff I missed, and go see Vicroads about the new engine. After a few kms I will drop the oil I just put in, get some good stuff in, and slowly test the engine, but considering how she fired up after just a couple of seconds...I'm wrapped.
I really do hope this engine lasts me well, it will give me time to fix up the old one, which has some nasty damage to the chain guard area, previous owners chain must have snapped...
I am hoping to get things done n time for the rally, seems like I was doing this a couple of rallys ago, putting the engine in...

Excellent news Gareth!
If all the indicators are good after the initial start and run, you should not expect any further problems.
What better shakedown ride than Harrietville.
