Title: Lubing Hydraulic Seals
Post by: Yamahammer1200 on January 21, 2016, 10:12:54 PM
Got my package from RPM with rebuild kits for the clutch slave and M/C.  Unsure on how to lube the pistons and rubber bits during reassembly.
I have heard everything from a heavy film of brake fluid, rubber grease to Silicone brake grease.
There was a packet of red grease that came with the OEM rear caliper seals.  I  put a thin film of that on the seals, piston and bore once they were thoroughly cleaned.  Seemed to work fine.
Was that Silicone grease?

Yes, it is probably silicone grease.
I've always just used the same brake fluid I'm going to use in the system.

Use brake fluid only to pre lube brake piston seal. Use the silicon grease on all other moving parts.
