I want to upgrade to some Ebc hh brake pads for my blue spots but I noticed there are two different part numbers for those type of pads. The ones that Randy sells are FA 252 HH but one's I've seen on EBay are FA 380 HH.
Are they in fact the same pads, just upgraded part numbers, or are there minor differences between the early blue through to the later silver dot calipers.
I want to make sure I'm getting the right one's before I fork out because their not exactly cheap to buy.

That's what drinking that VB shit will do to you Ken :biggrin:. I actually thought Victor closed down, that's why I didn't even think of him. Either way, he doesn't seem to have the front pads for the spots anyway.

Tony, the 252's and 380's are significantly different. Find a listing that shows a picture of each pad.
Eyeballing your own, even fitted, will be enough to identify which ones you need, 252's being the most common.

I have looked at a couple of different postings Noel, and to these bloodshot eyes they look the same. Some of the bikes the 380's are suited for still run the axial calipers, only difference i can see from pictures of the bikes is different colour spots on the calipers, hence the confusion, it doesn't take much to confuse me by the way.
See what info Randy comes up with, but I might play it safe anyway and order some 252's that way I know they'll fit.

Tony, I meant look at photos of the pads. They are different enough to be obvious to the naked eye. The 380's have split compound area and I think a different shape backing plate.

So, I did some checking as well as got an email back from my EBC salesman.
The only difference between 252hh & 380hh is the 252 comes with the stainless steel heat shim. The 380 looks to me to have a little smaller pad surface area because it is two separate pad segments instead of a single pad with a groove.
The backing plate and pad thickness is the same at 50.4x69x8.7mm
The 380 can also be ordered in the "race only" compound.
The two part numbers also cross over the just one part number in a couple other brand pads.
That is what I found out and can see between the two.

Well that's cleared that up. I did notice in photo's that the pad area was different, but the actual backing plate looked the same to me. So either 252hh or 380hh will fit blue/gold/silver spot axial calipers, good to know. Thanks again Randy. :good:
Now I have brake pads dilemma......
On rear I have EBC organic pads - and braking power is very good, sometimes too good.....
So I want buy EBC FA252 for front brakes - non HH pads. And now I have doubts.... Anyone use non HH pads?

Karol, with your rotors, organics are fine. Scrub your rotors to remove the old transfer layer.
I installed a set of the EBC "green" Kevlar pads once. They only lasted about a week.
I don't recall how well they stopped the bike. All I remember is that they covered the entire bike in a coating of black brake dust on EVERY ride.
It was horrible! They are still sitting in a baggie in my parts bin. I should just throw them away.
Went back to HH pads and am much happier (and the FJ stays way cleaner).
