Title: Yamaha bits
Post by: bikemad on December 15, 2015, 02:50:12 AM
I recently bought a 1988 3cv project bike and have been building it up.
I usually go on the USA sites(BikeBandit etc.) to see what parts are available there.
If they are listed as available I have been going to our local Yamaha dealer and ordering them.

I ordered six rubber's that the plastic side covers clip into on the frame and the bottom of the fuel tank.
They cost $20 for the six(part # 90480-01401).
Today the back order for the plastic caps that fit into the top of the forks arrived.
$19 for two(36y-2319w-00).
That's cheaper than the listed price in the USA! and available.
I'm very pleasantly surprised!! that they are available and the price.

Cheers Ian. :good2:

Thats a good price Ian

I bought some of those from JP Parts in Japan, I'm sure I paid a lot more than $20...............I'll need to check.
The good thing about them is they are quick and deal in A$.

But I did order seat rubbers & stuff for the TZ and TZR as well.

The sidecover grommets list at $1.56US each and the Fork plastic caps at $11.45US,
this is on Parts Outlaw in the US and there is shipping costs as well.

Yambits lists fj1200 bits and their sidecover grommets are 1.46(pounds) each. I'm sure these are reproduction.
.
I've never ordered fj1200 bits from Yambits but I have bought rd350/400 Yamaha stuff from them.
I have found that a lot of their stuff is reproduction and not always of good quality.

Lately ive been getting bits and pieces for my fj and r1 from Caboolture Yamaha.

Been pleasantly surprised with prices and if you order before 11am its here the next day after lunch.

I agree with the above comment about yambits. Some ordinary quality repo stuff for my RD as well.
