Title: Luggage for an 86?
Post by: tim95621 on February 02, 2010, 01:33:41 PM
I've searched quite a bit here and on line, and I'm having trouble determining if there is any hard luggage available for an 86. Of course it could be poor computer skills...

I've seen a few of the 90's bikes with hard bags, is there a difference in the rear sub frame that would prevent me from using those? Is there a brand I've missed? Is there a brand that looks good on the bike, but has no mounting brackets? I'm pretty good a fabrication. Any help would be appreciated.

You can fit givi wingrack mount and luggage, but the wingrack mount kit is no longer available, its a Y204 mounting kit, though the uk fj owners make a stainless copy, not cheap though, and you need to be a member

Hepco Becker makes a rack for the FJ and i happen to think their Junior 40 bags fit the FJ's lines quite well

and the rack is very unobtrusive when the luggage is not on

I like the way these look... if I didn't already have a Givi setup, that's what I would have.        :good:

the rack for the FJ is special order..... but at least it's still available

http://www.hepco-becker.de/_eng/frameset.php (http://www.hepco-becker.de/_eng/frameset.php)

do a model search to find the part numbers for the early years (even the 1100's) to give to eurotech when you place your order...... they also have PDF files on the .de site that show what the racks look like

took about 6 weeks for me to get the three piece rack..... you can either get the three piece rack or just the tail rack (the different part numbers)

i lucked out and found the side bags and topcase on ebay for a deal..... lots of bikes use them moto guzzi being a big one.

i think even new they are comparably priced with the Givi stuff....... best part i like about them is they are not clamshell design like the GIVI... they are a box with a lid design so half your stuff doesnt come spilling out when you open them.
