I am going for a ride up Angeles Crest tomorrow, anyone interested in making it a multi FJ event? :gamer:
Mark, did you go? I've read that most of the roads are still closed. Any snow? Inquiring minds ...
Oops, I just now saw this.
Didja go? How was it?
Mebbe next time...
I was a stubborn old bastard and went on my ride anyway. I say stubborn because this is how it went down. I failed to check road closures and was a fronted by a mighty smite when I saw the freeway sign indicating that ACH was closed. It seemed like plenty of time to clear the roads since the last rain. So I did what came naturally and turned around and went for Oro vist off Foothill (AKA Big Tujunga). I thought I could sneak in the back way. The Oro Vista is under construction and better suited to bikes of the knobby tired kind. I slipped and wiggled past the rough parts only to get stopped at a bridge with LEO's stopping all recreational vehicles. I thought I might try to convince them my tank bag held a vital organ for transplant and I was taking a short cut to save time and ultimately the future recipient. But I am a poor liar and once again turned around, maybe my other brain was in the bag. A few more off ramps later I exit at Osborne for a flick through the tight turns of Sand Canyon. Wholly Crap!!!! Sand Canyon started out as exactly that...sand. Road conditions cleared up after less than a mile and I was getting some twisty on. Still cautious of debris and scree in the corners so my twisty ride was mostly mild. I hit the 14 and headed west on Valencia Blvd. and caught Bouquet Cyn in hopes of some good clean road. I was not disappointed, little traffic and good twisty road and found my faith restored in the power of the Kookaloo and corners to restore my spirit. I passed the reservoir and turned back for a burger and chips at the restaurant with mostly HDs. The burger was good (had not eaten breakfast and it was already 4PM). Got my sorry ass back home before it got too dark for my dark smoked visor. It was a rough start but I got my Kookaloo on and it felt good!
Yeah, that cobbly stretch of Big T is fun, ain't it! LOL
Glad you had a good time!
