Hello from the SFBay. Finally got the bike of my dreams, an '89 FJ. It looks and runs great. Picked her up with only 17K miles on the clock, put 2k on her so far. I want to get into the modern world so I have put in a Shorai battery, Galfer SS brake lines, and replaced the original chain with an RK Gold. Next are front brakes while the saddle gets rebuilt. I hope to get to the West Coast Rally this June.
Sweet! Welcome aboard! Another NorCal rider. You'll be surprised how many of us there are. Hit me up for rides.
Welcome ! We have a number of members in your area. One in Napa. Get to the rally if you can. Great bunch of members.

Welcome to the group :hi:
still have some great weather left for riding around NorCal .
Welcome to our digital campfire..... The real campfire will be at the 2016 WCR in Willits.
Hope to see you there.
Go to Willits, the Hwy 20 that runs down to the coast has literally just been repaved with seamless hi polymer hotmix.
The roads there are fantastic, there's so many to choose from, you can even ride up to HWY 36 do it and return to Willits in a day.
Hwy 1, 101 through the redwoods, its great.
They are good enough to attract people from all over the world, just to ride them.
Trivia time: I was talking to Rex, a local logger, rancher, bush pilot and wounded Viet Nam vet.
His kin have been in the area since it was opened to white men,and he told me of the roads and logging and why so many of these roads seem made for motorcycles.
HWY 20 for example, as well as that section of Hwy 1 from Leggett to the coast, started off as railroads that were built to transport lumber to the coast.
The turns are long radii, banked so the logs wouldn't roll off the railcars and so , for us, the constant , single apex turns and the ideal camber make them favourites to ride.
The entire area has been clear felled, as in everything got chopped down , and all the growth you see now is secondary.
Redwood is abundant yet crappy timber, its weak, that's why the beams are so massive in the traditional cabins.
They had to use bigger beams to make up for the weakness of the timber.
Clear felled then grew back.
Wonder what it will look like in another 100 years.
