Title: Central New Jersey Shop... familiar with 1985 FJ1100
Post by: Hotdogwillie on October 08, 2015, 01:52:06 PM
Hello All! I hope i have started this thread in the right place.  I went to list my 1985 FJ1100 on Ebay yesterday, i had already taken all the pics a few months ago, and finally made up my mind to list it after work yesterday. Well, as i was writing up the listing, i thought that i had better go out and see if she starts or not.. sure enough she fired right up.. and now I do not have the heart to sell.  I also do not have the time to spend tuning it up.  Shops are no problem to find.... but bikes are so much different now, i want to find a shop that is familiar with the older bikes, and the FJ in particular. Any one know of any shops that fit this description in the central New Jersey area??
Thanks !

Good to hear that you are keeping the FJ.  :good2: :drinks:

Most OEM dealership service departments will not work on our FJ's for anything more than an emergency tire change during a long road trip.

There are still a lot of air cooled UJM bikes being ridden, I work look around in your local area for a private repair shop. Specifically pay attention to a shop that has many older UJM's that are in for repair.

Hello,

FW Speer Yamaha in Passaic NJ. One of the oldest Yamaha dealers in the country. Ask for Ray. Ray is one of the top 5 Yamaha mechanics on the eastern seaboard. He takes care of my FJ superbly. They are old school small shop and will work with you. Look them up on the web.

If you haven't found a shop yet, or if you really need a good...I mean good shop;  call Frank at Sun Cycle in Manasquan. Very very good tech. Reasonably priced.
