Should be a success - I'm not sure where all the money is coming from, but those with it have plenty!

Cool. I wonder if this means we will see a new 1 liter street motorcycle form Yamaha soon. That would not make my wife happy.

Looks a lot like the FJ09 or MT09 engine, that's really an 850.
Wouldn't be too difficult for Yamaha to just upsize it to a Litre.
I'd also not be too surprised to see the triple in the FZ1 to replace the four and keep the price down.
That would leave the 4cyl litre engine for the R1, where hp is more important than torque.

Above is just my musing, I have no information from Yamaha. :-)

Call me sentimental, but it would be nice to see Yammy come out with another line of triples.

I wouldn't be in the market for one (too many bikes as it is) but it would sure tie in nicely with the bikes of their past...

IIRC, Yamaha only had 2 previous triples back in the 70s.
A 750 and an 850, they both had 3 sets of points, and were difficult to get all adjusted correctly.
Neither of them was especially sporty.

Both Kawasaki and Suzuki had some very nice triples, they were 2-strokes and boogied :-)
There were also 750 triples from both BSA and Triumph.
IMO, if any company can claim to have a history of triples, it would have to be the modern Triumphs.
They have triples from 675 up to the monster 2300.
So, Yamaha really doesn't have much more history with triples than many others.

FJ-1 sounds cool. Yamaha's FJ/FZ three cylinder are awesome. The thought of a 1 liter is exciting. Yamaha has had great success with these models. As I said before "that will not make my wife happy".

Looks  to me to be the three cylinder snowmobile engine they have used for a few years now, which is plus minus 1,000 cc.

Sure, but all I said is it would be nice.

Never said they had "claim" to the triple nor that the originals were ground breakers.

$26,000 bucks? How many FJ's could I get for that? It was only a matter of time before the Japs woke up and started to use their catalog of power plants to make some cool stuff. Anyone remember the Yamaha RX1?  A snowmobile with an R1 engine. Nicest sounding machine of its time.

Snowmobile?  I left snow country over 30 yrs ago.
I had little experience with snowmobiles then, and I expect to have none in the future.

Note: I'm not at all unhappy with my lack of current snow experience :-)
Note2: Its supposed to be "spring" here but the high today is only a frigid, wintery 13C (55F)

Yes I have one. Absolute insanity. A guy in Menomonee falls has a Turbo one that puts out 628 hp. Last I knew he ran 7.86 seconds at 186mph on asphalt 1/4 mile. But that was a long time ago. Probably gone faster by now.

I don't understand the point of these off-road go-carts.  Sure, they might be fun to go blasting around the dry lake bed for a few minutes, but with those small tires you can't really go anywhere... certainly not down any rough trails or exploring the desert.  For the silly amount of money these things cost, you could buy a really nice, street-legal Jeep.  But that's just me.

As someone said... Yawn.

YUP!

Except knock a Zero off the end of that price, and that's how much I paid for mine.

Hell, I've spent nearly that much in repairs to mine this year (including my rear shock fund).    :sorry:
