Hello!
When I was in college I had an uncle who bought a new bike every year. Long story short, he owed me and let me ride every one right out the box. Each year it was something totally different. In 86, it was an FJ1200. On my first ride I was hooked. I seem to like classic old heavy torque monsters (I have an 25 year affair with a 1967 390GT mustang convertible). After a 10 hear hiatus from bikes (other than restoring a few classic dirt bikes for my 3 boys) I began looking for an FJ. I have always enjoyed older stuff. Craigslist came through recently with a dark blue 89 with 19k and a current inspection. Bought it on the spot for 1800 in cash after a spin to make sure everything sounded and ran normally. Last few days I have been having fun tinkering with it. The only noticeable mods from previous owners include a Kerker 4 into 1 and a K&N. The last owner does not know about any carb work (jets). Bike has nice paint, idles good but has a very mild hesitation at first throttle but screams to life after that. Plans are to put some new rubber on it and sort out the carbs. I like stock rides, so I may go back to 100% original although the custom look is amazing with that cool tank. Looking forward to learning as much as I can!
Welcome, happy you could join us. I have the same color '89 as my second FJ, you know you have it bad when you have 2 or more. We have a boat load of good information in the years of prior posts here. Depending on where you live you can meet up & ride with other FJ wackos. Maybe even join a near by rally.
Welcome ! The FJ is a "train" alright :good2:. Check out the files and gallery section. Lots of good information there.

Welcome. Great source of knowledge and group of guys here.
Where do you hail from?
I read "inspection" and wondered whether that was a PA State inspection, by any chance?
I know there are other states that do inspections, just wondered.

Pic after come cleaning and detailing.
Thanks guys! Sorry for the lame intro... I hail from the beautiful shenandoah valley of Virginia. Some great twisty roads in the mountains around here. Looking forward to bringing the old dog up to speed. I also realized it has a fender eliminator. Just bought the stock unit on eBay but may keep the sleek look after all.
Shenandoah Valley? We rode through that part of the world a few weeks ago. Absolutely beautiful roads. The Sky Ridge highway was amazing. Welcome to the group. Very nice bike you have there. Your area is spot on perfect for FJ riding. Enjoy the forum. There are many helpful people here to walk you through almost any problem.

A rear hugger is a nice option. http://www.fjowners.com/index.php?topic=12900.0 (http://www.fjowners.com/index.php?topic=12900.0)
