I crashed my 700 Raptor. Saturday. Got airborne unexpectedly. And then saw the 90 degree corner at the bottom of the hill. And I knew this is going to hurt. (And it did ,still does, and will for a long time) Next thing l know I'm flying around in the woods. I heard my buddy slow down for the corner, and then keep going. I realized I was a way out in the trees. My ATV was upright, on top of a big bush. I yanked it down out of the bush. (Adrenaline is a great thing). And started it. It was bent up but still ridable. By then my buddy came back. And said "you OK?". And I said no. And proceeded to ride the 34 miles back to the truck. Then drove 40 minutes to the hospital in Iron Mountain Michigan. And waited another 45 minutes in the waiting room. Then got rolled around while they took X-rays. They were just blowing it off. Until they got the X-rays. I heard one of them say" oh my God " and then they got serious. After a bunch more X-rays, and catscans MRIs. They said I broke 7ribs and my scapula on my left side. And contusions to both lungs. They decided to fly me to a trauma hospital. But they couldn't get the helicopter. So I had to ride in an ambulance for 4 1/2 hrs.to Froedter. Hopefully will get out tomorrow. So long story short it looks like I probably won't make it to ESCFR. @ Telico. :cray:
Wow! Very happy you are posting up your own crash.... Heal well dude. Heal fast...
Sorry you're not going to make it to Tellico, even sorrier to hear it's because you're hurt.
Get well soon, Dan!

You sure do it right Dan! Heal well and count your lucky stars. Sounds like that was exactly one RCH from fatal.
Frank
Yah I wasn't sure if I was going to make it myself. I knew it wasn't good. While I was riding back to the truck. I told God it was OK if he was going to take me. But I asked him to look after my daughter.
Sorry to hear of your get off. I hope the healing goes well.
We should start calling you Iron Man. After last years Deer Killer incident and now riding 34 miles on a busted atv and 7 broken ribs. My hat is off to you. :hi: Glad you were able to post this yourself. Heal up my friend and we will see you at another rally in the future.
Fred
Sorry to hear about that Dan. Glad you are still here with us. Push through it and get well soon. Hope to see you again at another rally.
George
Glad you are on the road to recovery. I must re-read this post before my next ATV trip with the boys. You are on tough mofo.

....... But I asked him to look after my daughter.
He is looking after your daughter....He kept you alive.
I had only 5 broken ribs on my right side, and I would not move....I was barely able to breathe.
I can not imagine what you went through Dan.
That must have been a long ass ride back to your truck and to the hospital.
Watch for constipation with your pain meds. Do your breathing exercises. Keep those lungs clear. Remember: If you develop static pneumonia, you're fucked.
Heal well and heal quickly amigo. Pat
So glad to hear you`re okay. Sounds like you should stay there awhile to help that body of yours do its thing...... Just found this on Google re your accom....
For 10 years in a row, Froedtert Hospital has earned the National Research Corporation's Consumer Choice Award, receiving the highest scores in best overall quality, best overall image and reputation, best doctors and best nurses.
:drinks:
34 miles @ 7ribs and a scapula - you're definitely one of the tough ones - that means you will heal rather quick, and that's the good news!
Heal well, best wishes from a distance for a good recovery!
Cheers Jo
Dan, you sure do it right!
If you didn't want to make the rally, you could have just SAID SO! :bomb:
You're living a charmed life, for certain. Your time is not up.
Steve
Dan, you deserve a medal for courage! Glad you didn't give up mate. Heal well. :hi:
Layback
Sorry to hear about the ribs Dan. I would much rather break an arm or leg. Hurry up and get well because the rally's aren't the same without you. Dave
Yeah, what everyone else said again.
Get better soon.
Arnie
When you are going to do something, you did it BIG!
Take care tough man, and rest easy while healing.
And for god sakes, try not to laugh! :rofl2: (or sneeze)
Sorry to hear about the crash, but glad you made it out.
See you at a Rally next year Dan!
OUCH! I can only imagine how much more damage got caused during the trek out! Holy cow
Heal well!
Heal fast..
Godspeed on the healing. And remind me never to make you angry. I'm afraid I wouldn't like it when you're angry..
Dan if this was anybody else, I would be calling bullshit right now. So glad you will be ok. Best wishes for quick and full recovery.
Kurt
Froedtert just kicked me out. Thanks everyone for well wishes for fast recovery. Going to have time to work on the Turbo bike now. But I don't know if I will get much done. Since every movement hurts. Oh well I it's just pain right. Still think I'll give it a couple of days before I try.
Thanks again my friends.
Dan, "Giantkiller" seems fitting, Chuck Norris can take care of the easy stuff... :good2:
Glad to hear you are out of the hospital Dan and the Froedtert nurses are safe once again. Dave
Giant killer, Deer Slayer, Rapter Wrestler...Brutis you are amazing man! I think about your deer episode every day I ride to work and home again you have made me just a bit more aware and cautious and I thank you! You sure are a tough 'ole Hombre...damm! Heal up and be safe, your friends and family need you. Will you be in shape in time for the Wildcat Mountain Rally? Take care Dan. Charley.
Wow we are dropping like flys!!!Glad to hear your going to heal Dan...was just on facebook and a fellow FJ'er Jon Fife took on a deer...he's ok but his FJ took it hard!..I almost got smoked in Deals Gap bye a Turkey.....Enjoy life be safe!!!!!
Glad you made it out alive Dan! Don't overdo it on the turbo bike. Give your body the time it needs to heal.
I really enjoyed our conversations and riding with you in South Dakota and hope to see you again at a future rally!
Derek
Have had broken ribs before. Really painful for a long time. But I hate laying around. Not getting anything done. Will probably take it easy till Monday. Way too hot and humid till then to be in the garage. But hoping to get to it on Monday. Scapula actually hurts more than the ribs anyway.
Hey Charley when is the wildcat?
Dan, The Wildcat Mt. Ralley is the 3rd or 4th of Sept through that weekend. You can google for more info. Hope you're feelin better tough guy! Cheers! Charley.
