Does anybody know?
1. Is there to be a 2016 Australian FJ Rally ?
2. If so, Where and When ?
3. If so, Who is the self-appointed "CAT HERDER" this time ?
Not sure if #s 2&3 are in the right order.
Arnie
Hi Arnie
As far as I know there is going to be a 2016 FJ Rally. The talk was of the central highlands, close to the Victoria boarder, can't confirm . RoverFJ1200 (Richard) was sort of the unofficial chook herder.
Mark
Fellow FJers.
The 2016 Rally is in the planning and I can tell you it will be in the Victorian High Country. Work is under way to find a Venue and accommodation options. March the 12th is most likely the sacred date.
So get your plans under way It will as usual be a cracking event.
:good2: March 12th, check!
Ta, Richard
Date is noted and "Vic High Country" is enough detail at this point. :-)
Looking forward to it.
Arnie
The VJMC Rally is March 4-6, same venue as 2015, Canberra.
Thanks Richard.
I'm on leave for the 1st 2 weeks of March and should be back home in time for that long weekend.
It all depends on what "The War Office" wants to do with the last few days.
At this point I'll say I'm a 90% starter. :yahoo:
Be Good
Macca.
Hold on Hold on. Looks like we have hit a bit of a snag here. With the weekend of the 12th being a long weekend in Vic accommodation is proving hard to find.
Looking most likely we will have to move the date forward or back..
Any preferences?
Tumbarumba is a really good spot, great cabins and camping at the caravan park, walking distance to pub and cafes, good prices, bike friendly and magnificent roads on the doorstep.
Tumbarumba Creek Caravan park with heaps of cabins available 5th March weekend. http://www.tumbarumbacreek.com.au/Contact.html (http://www.tumbarumbacreek.com.au/Contact.html)
Pub is 150 metres away http://www.tripadvisor.com.au/ShowUserReviews-g1060679-d5970283-r191168953-Tumbarumba_Hotel-Tumbarumba_New_South_Wales.html (http://www.tripadvisor.com.au/ShowUserReviews-g1060679-d5970283-r191168953-Tumbarumba_Hotel-Tumbarumba_New_South_Wales.html)
A number of bike groups give the thumbs up here for management cooperation.
Alternative suggestions?
What do the Southerners think? :drinks:
The problem is the timing not the location. It's the Victorian Labour Day long weekend. A week earlier or a week later would solve the accommodation problem and also have a lot less traffic to contend with. My preference would be for the weekend of the 19th and 20th of March. The weekend before is the Vintage Motorcycle show at Canberra so this may not be as suitable to some members.
Regards, Pete.
150 metres !!!!!!
As Pete says, "The problem is the timing not the location"
The weekend before or after will have a lot fewer of them damned "revenue collectors" on the roads too.
Arnie
We need some feedback about the most suitable weekend, NOT THE VENUE.

We have, if the date can be changed. The weekend that has been nominated is the Labour Day long weekend in Victoria so most of the available venues are booked out.
This is the preferred venue at this point.

The Rally Ride has already been chosen as has the Ride lunch venue.
My apologies for keeping you all in the dark but until another date can be agreed upon this is all still up in the air.
Regards, Pete.
I feel due to other events and the fact that the 12th is a revenue weekend we make it the 19th.
Bright has so many options for accommodation and venues it's a must do motorcycle rally town.
So that said just call it Pete and we can all lock it in now and arrange leave. Us northern riders are going to need to get our plants lined up and so on. Not to mention book our accommodation.
Going once
Going twice
The 19th it is...............................................Kookaloo..
The 19th works for me......I have put it in the calendar.

Good on you Mark. That's what we need; somebody who's willing to commit. :drinks: See you there.

Excellent!, OK, we have a rally! It can only get bigger and better from here on in.
The weekend after is much better than the weekend before. The roads will be much quieter. The weather at that time of the year is about as good as it gets for riding, crisp mornings and daytime temps in the mid 20's, plenty of sunshine and the sort of blue sky you only get at altitude in the country, spectacular. Then there's the roads....... Don't worry if your tyres have no tread in the middle, you won't be needing it
The rally ride is a cracker, as is the lunch venue and Bright is a beautiful spot right on the doorstep of Alpine country, non riding attendees (better halves) will love it. It even has it's own brewery, the drop below is my favourite.
Can't wait.

Also to further clarify, the rally will be held here: http://snowlinehotel.com.au/wordpress2/ (http://snowlinehotel.com.au/wordpress2/)
Cheers
Pick me, pick me ... :good2: ... I have my new panniers and tank bag now and a little work to be done on the bike and I will be all ready.
Looking forward to it so much. :yahoo: :drinks:
Sorry to announce a drop out for the Rally.
My wife has decided that she doesn't want to go. I could repeat her stated reasons, but why? Result is the same.
Anyhow,
I have a self-contained cabin booked at the caravan park next door to the Snowline Hotel at Harrietville.
Is anyone looking for accomodation that would like to share the space and the cost?
*Note: I have been told I snore, bring earplugs.
Cost is $110/night for the cabin, so 1/2 that ($55/night) would be your share.
I would prefer a young, pretty, sexually adventurous, female. (but I'll consider others  )
PM me if interested.
Arnie
SATURDAY RIDE ROUTES
You'll have a choice of 2 group ride routes on Saturday.
Both routes will travel in an Anti-Clockwise direction starting and ending at Harrietville
Both routes will have us all together for the obligatory group picture at Hotham Heights
and for lunch at the Blue Duck Inn at Anglers Rest (shown as 2855 Omeo Hwy) on maps
Those wanting a Shorter ride will turn off at Bogong High Plains Road (shown as Big Red)
and travel through both Falls Creek and Mt. Beauty ski resort areas. You'll rejoin the B500
Great Alpine Rd at Germantown returning to Harrietville. 235km and 4hr.35min Google time
https://goo.gl/maps/aaGz663XBcn
The Longer Ride will not turn off at Big Red, but continue North through Mitta Mitta and up to
Tangambalanga before turning back South through Dederang, Kancoona, and re-joining the
B500 Great Alpine Road at Ovens and returning to Harrietville. 370kms 5hrs 48min Google time
https://goo.gl/maps/WZ6wAmruoHP2
From my investigations, fuel should be available at Harrietville, Omeo, Mitta Mitta, Tallangatta (near Tangambalanga), Falls Creek, Mt. Beauty, and Bright. I would expect that only those doing the long ride
will need to fuel during the ride, and Omeo is suggested.
Both rides have very few straight sections. Zoom in on the route and see how squiggly the line gets :-)
See Youse all next Friday
