Title: Cold blooded

She doesn't want to idle until she's all warmed up. Warmed up she'll idle at 1000 Rpm. I can't get the bike to idle on its own until it's been ridden and warmed up for about 2 miles. It's slowly gotten worse. Any ideas? I thought maybe the o-rings or gaskets on intake

1) Check the choke linkage for full articulation.
2) Clean the choke and idle circuits. She won't idle cold 'cause the choke circuit is not delivering fuel to enrich the cold burn.

Ha I have kinda the same problem ..I took the carbs off my 3xw 1200 last week to give them a clean out cos they were flooding and when I replaced them it wouldnt fire up on the choke ..it jus splutters as if its getting too much fuel ..it'll fire up easy with no choke and tickover @ 1000rpm ..an rev smoothly without any stutters or misfires, jus strange its done that after cleaning out the carbs .. I never touched any or altered any settings .. before it would fire up on  the choke then settle down to jus over 1000rpm..

you have to remember thats a big .cold chunk of aluminum...it WILL take a mile or 2 or more to get heat, but.....is there a working choke?? ..kind of sound like the last 5 FJs i had.

Mine doesn't require so much warming up, but still I need to leave it "choked" for a while when cold. And my bike has only 23000 km (true, not messed with). Before FJ, I had Kawasaki GPz 550 with similar thingy. These are both air cooled engines with much greater tolerances in piston rings and different seals than a water cooled engine, so it is normal to run as it should only when fully warmed up.
Cleaning the carbs and changing air filter helped me on Kawasaki when it all of a sudden had running problems. I thought the bike was a gonner but it turned out to be as simple as cleaning carbs. :-D
Mind the mileage your bike has. If it is big, who knows, maybe the compression is bad and you need some cylinder boring and new pistons etc.
