Post by: Dads_FJ on June 18, 2015, 07:45:19 AM
Anybody have any experience with these? 2001 - TM125 for $1500 USD.  This a deal or run away as fast as I can?

A guy I know at work has one of those motors in his go-kart. He gives praise for the motor. He mentioned a down point of pricey replacement parts.

My brother and I tested the TM 250 and 300cc bikes in 1998 and seriously considered running them in the offroad racing we were doing at the time. Build quality was very high, they handled really well,  and all of the TM machines were very powerful for their respective classes.

Ultimately we chose not to run them as dealer support was spotty at best and as mentioned above parts were expensive. TM builds their own motors so there is little or no part cross referencing.

Might be a nice bike, but run away.  There is little to no dealer support.  As a point of reference, last fall I sold a 2003 KTM 200, in excellent condition and a lot of extras, for $1800.
