Unseasonable rain and snowfall is now happening in the Sierras. It was supposed to be dry year.
The weather forecast for Coleville looks ok for the rally next week, Thursday thru Sunday.
Hwys 89/88 thru Monitor Pass have been open, although closed today due to snow. I expect they will be open next week but who knows?
Sonora Pass 108 and 120 thru Yosemite are still closed due to snow.
How about some Plan B day rides on the eastern side of the mountains in case our pass routes are closed?
Mopar Steve and Capn Ron were talking about a trip out to Virgina City. There is also the ghost town called Bodie which is kinda cool.
Open for suggestions.
Yeah, MoparMan and I were chatting about a "Bodie backup" plan. That town is super cool...Costs a few bucks to get in and has a bit of hard-pack road for the last few miles (my favorite!)... It's also near Lee Vining...we could grab some lunch there. Mono Lake is also pretty cool to check out if we're nearby...
I definitely want to roll into Virginia City at some point...likely on a weekday so it isn't as packed.
I'm not sweatin' the weather at all. Life isn't about what you do...it's about who you do it with! :good2:
I got roads ...No problem..
No road closures on 108 or 120 as of today. I'll most likely be coming up 108 on Friday.
Yep, I think we will be ok. No rain forecast for Coleville: http://www.weather.com/weather/tenday/l/Coleville+CA+96107:4:US (http://www.weather.com/weather/tenday/l/Coleville+CA+96107:4:US)
Monitor, Sonora and Tioga passes are open and unrestricted :yahoo:
The crap I have to deal with from Randy...
Quick clip from a run up CA 108 and back ...
WAY too little snow on the ground at 9000', but still some of the best roads in the world.

That's "Iron Butt" Mike Ramos, a TITAN of the FJ world in my view. We simply ride them as a passing fad, while Mike is on another level, trust me.

No need to trust you, as I know Mike very well, and he will be my cabin mate at the Black Hills Rally next week.
And you are right, Mike is on a whole different level when it comes to riding the FJ!
Thanks for the video!

Haha! On a quieter note, Mike's as quiet as a church mouse in the sack! LOL
Great roomie, and great conversationalist.
