I got sick of always having a dead phone when I'd go on a decent ride. You never know when you may need to use your phone so I decided to get one of these little buggers. It was dirt cheap, and I don't really care for how it sits when it's mounted. I think it was manufactured to fit in a Honda car. Idk. If it keeps my phone in my tank bag charged that'll be good enough for now.
How about a link as to where you got it? It looks like the sort of gadget that I could do with.

I have gone a little bit of a different route. I wired in a 12v power adapter, paired with a 12v USB adapter.
The pig tail on the power adapter is wired to the battery and is fused. The cable is long enough to come out between the seat and the tank to reside in a tank bag. When not used, the long cable allows for storage in the rear cowling storage area. I just lay the cable along the rear subframe and use the frame cable stay to hold everything in place.

Yeah, I'm not real sure I'm gonna like the unit anyway. I saved the screen that I removed so I can put it back if need be. I wired the unit to the brown wire so it's only hot when the ignition is on. The brown wire is easy to find all over the bike.
It'll do for now and serve it's purpose. The imagination is the limit.
I was toying with the idea of using a nylon strap coming off my tank bag with two small rare earth magnets attached to the end (poles opposite each other) for a +/-. Then two more small rare earth magnets mounted on the bike somewhere so the nylon strap could magnetically snap itself into place and the charge cable and phone would be in the bag. That way I get off the bike and just grab the bag and pull the magnets apart with testing any wire off.
I better shut up before someone patents that idea.. ;)

Came in very handy on our last trip, the 2 USB's kept the GPS and phone charge, and used the 12V outlet to power a small air compressor to inflate a low tire. It's also nice having the voltage readout right in front of you so you don't have to look down at all.
