Title: Newbie from Germany
Post by: jo-sommer on May 12, 2015, 04:52:20 AM
Hi Folks,

just registered, now introducing myself  :hi:.

I'm Jo, just 50+ summers on my back and just some 100K miles on my bikes, retired fom driving cars, so my bikes are taking me from A to B, giving me everyday fun.

2 years ago I bought my '92 model 3YA FJ1200, just 40K miles, lightly modified (seat, handlebars, suspension, muffler, jets).

My other bikes are a '89 KLR650 for the winter, a '39 BSA (Patina, but running great) and a '51 NSU (bought from 1st Hand, like new).

I'm a member of a german Forum for a while, now spreading the horizon a bit...

Greetz, Jo

Willkommen, Jo!

You'll get a lot of great info on this side and make friends along the way. Sounds like you have some pretty cool bikes!

 Prost!  :drinks:

I love Germany....Folks, if you've never ridden on the Autobahn, you need to experience it to believe it.
Then you could bring back the bumper sticker, "Life begins at 200kmh" and understand what it means.
Germany is home to the best drivers in the world, bar none.

A hard working nation that is rebuilding their eastern half at the same time as keeping the entire EU afloat.
Amazing.

A lovely country. I want to visit it again.

THX for the welcome!

Here (http://abload.de/thumb/rzu3l.jpg) (http://abload.de/image.php?img=rzu3l.jpg) is the BSA, headlamp etc. removed for some flat track fun

and here (http://abload.de/thumb/iwo5w.jpg) (http://abload.de/image.php?img=iwo5w.jpg) is the NSU Fox.

@Pat Conlon: let me know when you'll visit Germany; I'll show you some nice tracks and places.

Willkommen Jo :hi:, joined recently myself. Just finished rebuilding and, as said by WeaponWorth, this is THE place for FJ fun and practical advice.
Lucky you in Germany, I've noticed quite a number of FJ parts available, although not all have had reasonable prices, but with the web you can take advantage of all the EU FJ bargains.
What part of Germany are you from? There seem to be some good parts from Holland, and also Italy, so, depending on your spot you might be up for some sweet deals.
Tschuss :drinks:
(German beer is the BEST)

@Troyskie: thx, you are right; so far :drinks:

I'm located just a few miles north of Heidelberg, which means
- 1h ride to the Alsace-aerea
- 2,5 h ride to the Alps
- 1,5 h ride to the Rhön area
and about 1.500 miles of twisty roads just around my hometown.

Best of all: 10 breweries within a 25 miles circle...

lucky luck lad! But only 25 breweries? :sarcastic:.
I was not far from you March this year for work, Frankfurt for a trade show, then on the Bahn down to Karlsruhe, & Sixt car to Oberhausen. Unfortunately all work and not much fun.
I do have some relatives in the Ruhrgebiet, hence the visit to Oberhausen, so I was lucky enough to sample as many beers as I could.
As per before mate, there are many very knowledgeable souls on this forum, so just about any question for your bike will likely be answered, with options!
Troy.
