Seeing as it was my RDO today, I thought I'd take the bike out and give it a thrash in the countryside to compare the handling with the new gixxer wheel compared to how it was with the standard one.
There was a definite improvement in stability in corners, I'd say from the lower sidewall height of the tyre compared to standard where the tyre would squirm on the rim and make it feel a bit twitchy when leant over.
I wasn't sure either how it would go with mismatched tyres on it, Avon Roadrider cross ply on the front, and a Michelin Pilot road 3 radial on the back, but I have to say, I had absolutely no dramas at all with this setup, rock solid all round, in fact, the only wobbly thing on the bike at the moment is the bloke riding it.
Another worthwhile upgrade ticked off. :good2:
Glad your happy with it bones. So. whats next?
It's a nice mod and well worth the trouble..
Not sure Ken, Suspension sorted, wheels sorted, brakes sorted,?? Mmm... What to do ... don't worry, plenty left to do yet. :pardon:
sometimes i wonder if all these mods are worth it. wouldn't it be easier just to buy the bike that you want it to be.? :drink
i like my fj just how it is now after i got the standard suspension i little more dialed in. I will admit it maybe slower in the bends, doesn't brake as well but with the new ebc hh pads im satisfied ..
If i really want to push my very ordinary bike riding ability i'll jump on this

but having said all that , this is my favourite, its a stump pulling torque monster that reminds me of my bulldozer days.

Haha Ken, good try, you can't fool me. That is not a standard FJ.

Then all the mods would be about making it more comfortable and more stable...
