Never thought I would find one , but couldn't resist. I know a guy who has one and he loves it. I hear it may be an acquired taste. If not then we will see.

You are the second GTS owner that I know of that also has an FJ parked next to it. Looks to be in good condition.

Beautiful bike. Always wanted one but like FJ's good examples don't come up for sale very often.  Dave

This one came from Texas originally Dave! It could've been yours.

Condition is 7-8 of 10 perhaps?. It has a few siblings in the garage too. I can't wait until we get some nice weather.  Does the other GTS-FJ owner belong to the forum as well?

Yes, not very active but local to LA, I have had a few rides with Frank, both on his GTS and his very nice custom '84....

that is a great looking bike -- piece of art if you ask me

I have a T-shirt from back in the day that I think Yamaha gave away to promote the bike  --- its a little beat up but I still have it because its has a pic of the bike on the back.

Jonnie, very nice. Great find, I think that bike was ahead of it's time.

Sweet! I always liked the GTS - it was definitely ahead of its time in many respects, including the price tag. As I recall they retailed for $17K Canadian back in the day - likely a reason they didn't sell.

The lack of feed back from the front might also be an issue....

Nice! My long time riding buddy across the road from me has a red one like this, although as it is a daily rider it is a little more faded and not as clean as this one.
They do feel completely different to the FJ thats for sure.

That one is very nice. If any bike I have will ever be worth anything this will be it. Not that I bought as an investment. I plan on using it as a driver. They only sold 200 in Canada. My good friend remembers being at Yamaha Technical school and watching them crush unsold bikes. What a shame.

If you look to the left you will see my head exploding... again.  I'd like to take the bean counter who decided that and hoof him in the nuts 'til they came out his ears.   :ireful:

They could have easily auctioned them off for charities or something. I better stop before I hurt myself  :dash2:

I was at a Ride Day at Phillip Island where Frankston Yamaha had a Demo model of the GTS 1000 for some potential customers to ride with the hope of making a  few sales prior to its Australian release.
There was all sorts of Pomp and Ceremony as they unloaded the big machine from the trailer.
Unfortunately the first rider (a Yamaha employee) High Sided at MG corner and turned it into splinters and shards of abs.
They were very quiet as they poured the big machine back into the trailer and covered it in a tarp. The Yamaha Guys were very embarrassed and never even said good bye.
I must say I was pretty impressed as it passed me going up to The Hay Shed only to see it cart wheeling over itself at MG.

Be Good.
