The clear clutch cover finally arrived this morning.
Fred, I missed the back story on this....
Who did the mod? What material? Did it clear cover come mounted or did you do it? Details, details...
After a period of time, are you concerned the the inside of the window will stain?

I purchased the cover from a seller on eBay UK. He has made this himself.
To the best that I can figure, the material is glass, and is attached with a sealant. I am hoping that it is tempered. :scratch_one-s_head:
With glass, I am thinking that it should not stain.
I have 2 spare clutch covers and i am thinking about trying to duplicate what I have. I will get the dimensions and have a piece of tempered glass cut, seal it in, install the cover on the bike, and check for leaks. If all goes well, I will then put it up for sale.
Fred
Pretty slick Fred! Is that tempered glass like a fireplace might use? Does this mean you're not running the full fairing lowers anymore?

Yes, I will be putting the larger lower back on. It is off for repairs.
Fred
Ive seen a fair few RD350lc's done like this, from memory there's were made from some type of perspex or acrylic
and i never heard of any hassles from staining. If you want to see them go to the rdlccrazy site and search clear clutch cover.
Looks great Fred.

Looks great Fred.
Thank you Dan for the A.P.E pressure plate. I don't think it would look right with the blue Barnett pressure plate.
Fred
Also, I found out that the clear material is stain proof Lexan.
Fred, another nice mod from across the water. I think Fred is taking foreign language courses so he can order parts from Europe.
Kurt
I like it, but other Fj todos prevent this mod to mine

I am glad its Lexan --- you wouldn't want glass -- even tempered glass. Tempered glass would shatter into a million pieces and no doubt get into the engine upon a spill or tip over.
If you ever need to clean the Lexan --- easily done with the Mequires Headlight Refurbish Kit --- get the one with the sandpaper ( 25 bucks) as it works great. Cleans up the yellow on the Headlights to brand new clear -- as it uses 1000 grit then 3000 grit paper.

Good to know Steve, can you pay a visit and clear up my old head lamps on my Toyota?

FJmonkey,
The auto parts stores have several different cleaning kits available for car headlights, ranging from abrasives (polishes) to wipe-on, wipe-off chemicals. I'm told a buffer helps a lot, with the polishes. I have not tried these kits on bikes, though.
Cheers,
Red

Shush up Red... :diablo: Trying to get Steve to come over and clean up my truck's lights... Now he might suspect that I am playing him the fool.... :shok:
NO - I will not come and do your headlights --- what are you implying ----
Its easy stuff though and you will be amazed at the results ---
Here a tip to save 8 bucks --- go to Walmart.com and order one online to be delivered to the store/ pickup in store ( they are 18.74 online) as oppose to the 24.99 price at the store.
So now that I saved you a few bucks Mark --- stop working on the FJ and get one and clear up your vision.
Mark, go to Harbor Freight & get their cheap-o kit. Use a drill motor, some elbow grease and lots of masking tape.
Ed
Here is a photo of the 2nd cover that I received.
I swapped the clear covers to the silver with a smaller window.
