One day it was there...the next not. The small allen head screw that holds the choke knob to the post on the left side of the fairing. i drug a magnet all over my garage floor and no luck finding it.
Does anyone happen to know the dimensions for that tiny but now really critical little part?
The damn screws are elusive creatures.
Here is a part number for a replacement. Don't have any idea why there is not a listing on the FJ parts list, but this one is the exact match. #13 on the drawing.
You may be able to order from Randy at RPM.

I used a split ring, like you use to put your car keys on. run the ring thru the hole in the choke post.
it now looks like a grenade pull ring but im ok with that.

QuoteYou can also see if the screw is available at your local ACE Hardware stores.
It's a 2.5 x 6 mm metric screw. I got my last ones there for about .30 each.
Oh and a dash of Blue Loctite helps prevent them from vibrating loose.
My LBS is ordering one in. and i'll use the locktite this time.
thanks all.
I went through a similar situation when the choke knob came off in my hand, I thought oh shit, thats going to be a hard thread to replace. When I got home from the ride that was full of good twists and many roll on's, I put FrankenJ on the center stand and was sniffing around the area and BINGO, that little screw was wedged between the black choke panel at the bottom of that piece. I was very pleased to find it!!! Anyone for horse shoes!!!

Sure, you through your two shoes and I will through the six I have in reserve....
Drill the hole through the other side of the knob and put a small hitch pin through it
