Hmmm...wave rotors, blue dots, RPM exhaust, white wheels from maybe another bike...and a set of red power-ranger gloves??? On the Crest? Is there ANY doubt?? :shok:

This time with no oil dripping from the bike...
Congratulations Mark. What's the fate of your ambulance?
Frank
Looks awesome Mark! The color has got to change though...
Derek
Great looking "Dark Side" colors. :good:
The riding gear doesn't match though. :unknown:
Let me attempt to answer all the posts in order.
1. Cash, it's my new to me FJ on it's first shakedown run. Sorry we missed each other at Newcomb's ranch. Let's ride dude....
2. Pat, you can only see the periwinkle when the tire gets changed. :shok:
3. George :drinks:
4. Capn Ron, no doubt...
5. Frank, yes, no oil slick where I park, or on the rear wheel. The '86 (Ambulance) has a spare frame waiting for an upper shock mount mod and fresh powder coat. Then some TLC on the engine and case (2nd gear fix) etc... Then I have to decide if am going to switch the mods back over or find new ones and keep the '89 as it is now. It runs quire well and the short run up and down the Crest was over due therapy.
5. Derek, I am torn between keeping the paint stock or doing a "Derek" on it in Silver and Red. The Stormy Blue is such good looking color in the sun light. Maybe I will come up with a color scheme that keeps some of the Blue. Its kind of like having two mistresses, one is a fiery red head and the other a sultry brunet.
I think that covers it....
Edit for Fred, I am sure I look like I stole the bike with my current riding gear, Red and White power ranger gear on a nearly black bike.....
Dude I blew your covert operation!
Yes let's ride soon. Hopfully on my FJ.

Nice Bike Mark :good2:

Oh Monkey , What have you done? You are a traitor to the red and white brotherhood .
Alright I'm just giving you crap ..... the new bike looks great and still an Fj . I too have been tempted by the dark side with the improvements of fuel pump, dog bones, no anti-dive,better shift forks and slick paint .
That said : If you let the 86 sit and die , you will be beaten with a wet noodle . :diablo:
Well that is awesome Mark. Now you have all the time you need to get your 86 back on the road.

The '86 is my first FJ love and it will not be a basket case. I already have a spare frame and a design for a new upper shock mount. The '86 will return to its full glory and sporty Kookaloo attitude... The '89 might even get a "Derek" in Red and Silver.....

Monkey,
Very nice ride, that.
This thread is proof that you should NEVER attempt to use your FJ as a get-away vehicle. Every Bastard Here (EBH) will finger you!

I should know better, I went to one of two very popular motorcycle stops in the general Los Angeles area. Cash did the exact thing I would have done, take pictures and hunted the FJ owner down. Its all good, the FJ community is like an extended family, even all the JABH.
Congrats on the "new" FJ, Mark.
I have been wondering how the progress was going.
Glad to see you are moving in the right direction and not fading away.

My shakedown run last Sunday revived my love for two wheels. Just after I parked at Newcomb's Ranch a guy on a CBR1000RR pulled up and parked next to me. I think he was a little surprised when he saw what I was riding. He commented on my keeping a good pace through the twisties. Now I wonder if that was Cash himself? I guess I will have to make a ride with the guy, he can't keep his helmet on the entire time like Stig can he?
Congrats on the FJ aquisition Mark! :good2:
I do think you should leave the color "As-Is"
I love that color scheme (it's my 2nd favorite, behind the red/silver '84), and think it's one of the rarer ones out there.
You guys are making me jealous! I wanna ride!
:drinks: monkey..

X2 for stock colors - and the ride! Although I think a red and white with blacked out rims, forks, frame, swingarm etc would be good
But "Battle Axe" will have to stay murdered out!
I`m glad you got a new ride Mark! Silver and red would definitely be awesome! So would leaving it the way it is and ridin that bitch! It looks great the way it is!
Derek
Monkey, again congrats on the 89. I think you should keep the stock color. The 89 and 86 are different bikes, keep them different. You still have the 86. I like what Derek did but I see that as a tribute to his 86 RIP. It's like having two suites that are the same. Unless you have an FJ for each day of the week. Maybe a poll? Might be interesting to see the results.
Kurt
Way to go Mark. You'll love your 3CV. Keep her black and beautiful. :good:
Now, let's ride!!!

My second choice of color for the FJ's still better than those blue units with twinkle toes stripe! And how can anyone say the Silky Whites are not just plain gorgeous! But it's the Red and White that carry the FJ Flag!!!!! Im liking your new Lady Mark but please come back from the dark side! :sarcastic:

The Stormy Blue is such a nice looking color in the sunlight. I am torn between keeping the color stock and being a dual personality Monkey or doing a "Derick" on it and making it Silver and Red. However, the '86 will be rebuilt and returned to Kookaloo condition, it is my first FJ love and has a special place in heart.
I was trying to find an '89 in the theft deterrent Silver and White so I would not betray my Red Power Ranger motif.... But this one fit the bill and has me thinking on the dark side. Red Power Ranger during the day.... Stealth Monkey at night....
