Title: Trip down the east coast of Aussie land..
Post by: roverfj1200 on March 05, 2015, 04:51:51 AM
Here are a few pictures from a trip I did last month with a mate on a Husqvarna 900 Nuda. 6 days of riding seen us cover 4800km from Brisbane to Melbourne and back weaving our way down the range. Lots of great roads and fine sunny days made for a super trip.

Richard, you are lucky man, that's your second big trip this year (that I know of)

Not everyone gets the chance to ride an FJ down to God's own country twice in the one year.

Where specifically did you travel in Victoria?

What a great ride. If I'm not mistaken, it looks like you took in Thunderbolts Way between Gloucester and Walcha and stopped at the lookout. We've ridden that road a few times and always enjoy it but the Chasers have cottoned on to it in the last couple of years.

I'm gonna have to start venturing further afield.................... :yahoo:

But I need a decent seat first or maybe a gel seat cover.......

That`s the way I go to Phillip Island! In fact there`s quite a few crossings of the Divided Range I and a lot of other Sport bikes traverse East & West when they`re suppose to be heading South on that 2000klm ride that actually ends up being 3000klms one way in reality.

On my last run down that road I was travelling Solo (Not with any group.....well I was but they got separated!) and heard a radio request (CB) from the police "C`mon guys, slow it down, we`ve got better things to do than spoil your run down South" I was surprised to hear a considerable amount of civil two way banter broadcasted. (Also surprised how many riders had CB radios on their touring sports bikes....points savers like me!). That constabulary passed me some 5 minutes later in the opposite direction.... I like Country Police. Last week My mates were in Tassie and only received hand signals from the enforces as warnings. In fact they also received a written warning for overstaying their parking time in one particular Town, no fine....I love Tassie`s old fashion everything!

Geez Rich, you`ve been knocking up some kilometres this year!...Can`t wait for Grafton, yea!   :drinks:

There will be a loan Air hawk doing the rounds at Grafton that recently went around Australia. ...It`s yours for the trip home. (If not, than it`s first in best dressed.)   :drinks:

I recall that there was a sign at the start of Thunderbolts way, Gloucester end, that read something like "This is not Eastern Creek and you are not Mick Doohan. Ride safely". Always had a little chuckle when I saw that. The sign's not there anymore.

If you set your bike up well the bigger distances come a little easier. Biggest day was a 960km...

Excuse my ignorance, Air Hawk ? is that some inflatable cushion ? Would be good to try it out but unfortunately I won't be at Grafton this year. :sorry:

Hey Richard. looked like a great trip. I would love to that one day (soon I hope) I would love to try the air hawk as I am doing a Hard arse Challenge ride at the end of this month. we are doing 2000km in 48 hours, from Grafton to Rockhampton and return, so some extra padding on the seat might be good.

See you all next week. Safe travels.

Sounds like a great ride Mark. You`ll receive that arse saver on Sunday, on the proviso ya post some trip pics.

(Note: No liability to users re breakage or puncture. It`s an old well used one anyhow......just for those that maybe thinking of testing it`s benefits before maybe buying a new one of their own).  :drinks:

If you do that 2000km in 36hrs I think thats a IBA ride. I will show you how to set the Airhawk up. The Airhawk is good but nothing makes up for KM under the belt.

It's actually surprisingly easy Ken ( heh heh yeah I can say that now ). Going to Jindabyne last year we did 1070 kms first day (Bris - Wollongong ) and on the last day back we did around 840 kms (Wellington NSW - Bris ).  Just had to do it, being with others made it easier I think.
