Title: Carbon Fiber treatment
Post by: aviationfred on February 20, 2015, 08:51:48 PM
When I dropped off parts to be powder coated, I saw items on display that had been given a carbon fiber pattern. I  found this photo on a FJ facebook page and I am seriously considering doing the same to mine.

doing the same to mine...

doing what?  Is it a wrap?  Those things usually don't look very deep if at all...  kinda fake looking.

Your pic looks better...  what is it they do?

It might be Hydro or immersion printing. I have been doing some research on this for my Ambulance...

The photo is not of mine. The process in the photo was a wrap that used heat to make it form to the panels.

For mine, I don't know exactly what the process is. I do know they use a clear coat paint over the carbon fiber print to give it depth. I will find out more on Monday when I drop the parts off.

Yeah Fred , check it out and post pics when done ..
I have changed mine from cracks so many times .
will it add any strength to the panels?

I will add photos when I get them back.

The only place mine has any cracks is around one bolt hole. I will repair before I drop them off.

I am not thinking any strength will be added. They really are not stress items.
