Just curious about the various rankings for members, jnr, senior, full, hero, super hero etc. and the various star ratings, are they related to length of membership, number of posts or something else.
John
It is just a post count thing , dose not mean you are wise and infallible with all the answers .
pretty much meaningless as for the content of your posts.
Generally the Forum members with a high count have just been around for a while and help with questions about fj mods , repairs and such.
We all make mistakes from time to time and there is always someone with a different view .
some members just posted a welcome to every new member and hit the high post count ... It will not take long to figure out who helps and who just stirs the shit.
I hope that clears it up for you. :drinks:
Yep, Mark has it correct. The post count does not equal wisdom or experience. I may have the most posts but I will not claim to know more about the FJ,. I have too much time on my hands. But I Post up and reply to help others. But Hero or Supper Hero is not worth much on this forum. The wisdom that comes from this site is priceless, just like the members...

I notice that you are "Forum member #16" I am curious to know who may be still active (I mean active) that are even earlier members. I figure Pat Conlon is one, but I don't know if that's accurate.

I`m not one of them but it doesn`t take much to name another 15 based on posts in the last 6 months.
LA Mike, Arnie,, Klavdy, Andyb, racerman, TRoy, Mst3kguy, pdxfj, FJflyer, Harvy, rlucas, yamifj1200, semiEd, FJMonkey. & of course Marsh. :drinks:

edit ...well I found it , pat is # 49
Ok , before someone asks .
You can see what # someone is by clicking on their profile and looking up at your browser for the user # , it will be the last one in the sequence.

I don't think that is right, when I do that it give me the number 4463 but there is only 4119 members. :wacko3:
Unless there are hidden members, kinda like mystery shoppers :flag_of_truce:

I believe that means 344 have joined and then cancelled later. the numbers don't get recycled .
There are times when someone joins to sell a bike or parts and then cancels after the sale.

I'm #12 it seems and only visit this site every few days. Most of the early folks were refugees from the old Yahoo site, which had gotten pretty bad. Truth be told. many/ most of the others on here know more about the FJ than I do. Anyway, it is indeed a great site filled with great, knowledgeable folks. Best 'digital campfire' I've had the pleasure to warm myself next to.

Dan you are welcome to any campfire of mine, digital or actual....
Rankings?? really.... wtf.... as Jeff Hoffman put it years ago prior to a rally ride " There are no winners here only losers." Fix your bike, ride your bike, enjoy your bike its that simple. We don't need no stinking ratings....

Yeah...one's quantitative participation in a forum tells me little about a fellow rider/mechanic. There are times I've completely mis-read someone through reading posts only to have met them in person at a rally and thought, "Damn...that guy is alright!"
There are newbies to our digital campfire who can out-wrench, out-ride and out-weld me any day. It's all about the willingness to to share your knowledge for the greater good of the group. There will be something I know that you don't...and much more that the forum collective knows that will make the difference between continuing on a nation-wide tour or hanging it up and flying home. EVERYone has some experience to offer that is unique to them...I'm happy to be part of a group that encourages each member to share that. :hi:
Hopefully everyone understands the post count dealio . Not really a ranking system , just a post counter that makes you super hero member after 1000 posts.
Just something Marsh thought would be good for a laugh.
The forum member number is just a user # of when you joined the site and is meaningless as well other than you were in the first hundred or so to join up when the site began back in feb 09 . I just thought it was a cool thing to put next to my avatar . :pardon:
This site has a myriad of members from newbies to old dogs, and we learn from each other and argue about oil and tires from time to time.
Just because someone has a low post count does not make them uninformed to the ways of the FJ . On the other hand a high count does not mean expert in all things FJ.
Be well my FJ companions. :drinks:
I'm almost sorry I asked now, but I love how some of these questions take on a life of their own and end up somewhere completely different but let's not take it all to seriously.
John (Super hero in the making)
I have no rank. Maybe I was ground zero.
The matrix starts here.
Andy
Nope - just found it - number 64. Well least I made the top 100

Hey Capn, :hi:
I seldom logon here anymore except to PM or peruse files or pics, but this topic came to my attention...
#4 was me, under my original s/n.
When they deleted it, about 2600 posts went with it, IIRC.

PS: Really enjoyed your ride reports!
"rank" is cowboy talk for tough and mean ("a rank bull"). All these fellers here iz sweethearts. Well, mostly.
Randy, may i ask why you choose not to be a regular here anymore. There was a post last week or so asking about Randy (RPM) and andyb regarding not being around anymore.
Neither of them have been on to answer the same question.
Also why did you drop out from #4
