What is the other end connected to?
That hose goes to your ignition box.
Thanx I'll try that.

Cash, it looks like your ignition vacuum hose is already attached.
It's the hose off the #2 intake port that wraps down and runs below the carbs and heat shield skirt.
The hose in the picture, because of the size of it, looks like it could be one of your bowl vent hoses. Look closely between carbs #1 and #2. You should see a T fitting that connecting carbs 1 and 2 together (you should also see a T fitting connecting carbs 3 and 4)
These T fittings swivel and it looks like the #1/2 T fitting is rotated up (it should be pointing down)
The Calif vapor recovery system used 2 smaller hoses off the #2 and #3 carb bodies that were connected to the charcoal canisters, but again the hose in the above picture looks too big to be one of those hoses.
Question: If this hose is one of the main bowl vent hoses, instead of pointing the T fitting down, so that the vent hose drains by gravity, why did someone rotate the T fitting to run the hose up?
I think the PO might have had a minor fuel leak (dribble) problem with carbs #1 or #2, so running the vent hose up would disguise the problem.
BTW, looking at the picture shows the classic example of incorrect routing of the fuel line.
Take those paper air filters off your bike and throw them....as far as you can throw them...Get some Uni's, your engine will thank you.
Pat,
The boost control vacuum hose is routed and is good,as with the pipe for the fuel petcock vacuum. The bike had Cal emissions bottles on it. The hose in question/pictured not OEM. So I'm capping it off. Yes I just did the safety wire on my petcock good reminder. Now I know what a boost control module is. Kinda ...

BTW this bike was in a Palm Springs garage since 1987 till Nov 2014.
