Well after much money spent, 5 months of hard work, hours going through web pages looking for parts and endless phone call, it has all come to a head today. I have had my first ride on the bike and took it to the motor registry to get it safety checked and passed for rego. After a few tense moments where they were unsure of the bikes history (was it stolen or written off by a previous owner).
The bike has passed and now officially back on the road.
Hooray. happy times.
Mark
Mark,
I have followed the progression of your project on facebook. Your FJ looks awesome. :good2: :drinks:
Fred
That's fantastic Mark, congratulations.
Now the real adventure begins, sounds like you've earned it.
Noel

LOL Steve
Just my sheep skin cover to make the long trips a bit more comphy. It was originally on my Triumph Sprint 955, but I found that it sort of fits the FJ seat ( if put on backwards.) Will get a proper one made up at some stage.
Mark
Oh Yeah,
All tagged up and ready to roll , go put some miles of smiles on . Enjoy the ride. :drinks:
First day with plates on the bike and it has rained all day. Not usually a fair weather rider, but hate starting a ride in the wet. Still managed nearly 100km. Will do a proper shake down run over the weekend (looking to do about 400km on one of the ranges loops available in my area.)
Mark
Very nice indeed.
Nicely done!
Cool to see the finished results :drinks:
Awesome news.
Its a good feeling of accomplishment riding something for the first time that taken months or years to build from scratch. I had that feeling with my Suzuki, the first run will probably show some minor problem somewhere, but once sorted, will be smiles all round for years to come.
Good job Mark, looks great. :good2:
Tony.

First day I rode mine it was raining when I left home, it rained all day and it was still raining when I got back. It was Winter, it was cold, my wet weather gear sucked (more like absorbed) but I could not get the smile off my face all day (possibly because it was frozen like that) all 600kms of it. I could not believe how much bike I had under me for the money.
90,000kms/6 years later I frequently have "what a machine" moments and it still puts a smile on my face many times each ride.
Enjoy Mark, the FJ is the most useable Classic bike out there.

Great job Mark shes a beauty! I have a sheepskin on my extra seat for long distance rides and to keep the 'Misses ass happy I love it (the seat, and her ass)...mine was for a Hardley ableson but fit the seat nicely, best $25 I've spent on my 84 FJ. Congrats to you that's a great bike you should be proud! Now time for miles and Kookaloo!!! :drinks: Charley.
Fabulous! Happy Riding, while we in the Upper Hemisphere endure Winter.

Hey?! Didn't you get the memo? Inversion this weekend. :good2:
Mid 60's at the coast! :yahoo:
Get out and Ride. :dance2:
Had a Great day out on the shakedown run. Did a lazy 250km on a beautiful summers day (are you jealous in the northern hemisphere). Happy with the way the bike went and cant stop smiling. :yahoo:

I'm going to
endure 72 degrees today in San Jose and head for the coastal mountains around 1030. Loop out through Boulder Creek, Bonny Doon, Pescadero, then up to Alice's, down Skyline, and back home for about 165 miles. It's going to be a bitch, but somebody's got to get out and ride in these conditions... :bye2:
Frank
PS - Anyone local want to join... send PM. Diane's working today, so I'll be at solo pace :gamer:

OK... I'm tempted to go again today. It was spectacularly nice out on the coast and Alice's was packed with exotica yesterday. I'm planning to work on the z today however.
PM me is you want to twist my arm...

I did indeed... Wiz got a good cleaning, chain lube and tighten, and general going over, then I set off. Busy day for bikes out there and everything from 848 Ducs to R1200GS BMWs got the chance to see my taillight briefly. Good times...
Frank
Missed it again. Had to work today, pining every time I stepped outside to see the weather. We'll make it happen one of these days.

I have ridden with Frank a few times and wondered why he seems to fly way ahead and half way through a beer before I show up. This really helps in my concept that he knows Kookalooo...
