Title: Off road & FJ, not a good combination
Post by: FJmonkey on October 26, 2014, 08:10:59 PM
Over a month ago I went on a familiar road and got lazy, I failed to judge (not properly judge, just blank spaced it) a corner that I have made before. I braked hard, countered steered as much I dared, puckered like I could turn coal in to diamonds, crossed the center, into the opposing shoulder then into the shallow ditch. At this point I felt like I was done and resigned to crash. But I also had no desire to actually ditch the bike and decided to ride it out. Bugger me!!! I road it out and got found myself back to the black bitumen with only sticky smelly stuff in in my leathers.... I found out later the cost of my laps of concentration and corner judgment.

I am very happy I did not have my lower fairing on at the time, I would have littered the ditch with pieces of ABS plastic...

Nice riding.  Shame about those 2 headers, but there should be a ready source of replacements from all the folks putting the new rpm 4 into 1 pipes on.
Let no one say the FJ isn't a good "bush basher" :-)

Glad you are in one piece. You must have some dirt bike experience. Ride safe. Dave

I see that you solved the problem of the hard parts.  :good: The leathers and the sticky smelly stuff may be a bit more troublesome to fix.... :empathy3:

I happen to have a solution to that..... :rofl2:

Hey Mark,

I'm glad you went ditching BEFORE you put the new exhaust on.

Nice riding, sorry about the monkey suit, and that exhaust looks SWEET on the ambu.

I am also happy that my lower fairing was off as well, that would have grenaded into little pieces.

that reminds me of what Kenny Roberts said about the TZ750 powered flat-tracker "they don't pay me enough to ride that thing"
